After Ru and Babette said their goodbyes, Chloë met up with the newly dressed August and Quinn. Chloë - "Wow, looking sharp you guys!"
August- "Check out the hat, Chloë. It FITS and everything!"
Chloë- "It looks perfect! You look like you'd be riding horses on the beach at night or something. Oh my gosh, we should do that sometime..."
August- Totally!
Quinn - "Cheers, pet." He gave her a little smile.
August- "Q can ride a pony instead."
Chloë - "Aw ponies..."
Quinn: "Ponies...." He looked baffled in the way only August (and sometimes Babette) could achieve. Chloë - "Quinn you look very dapper, especially for someone who just fell in a pool. It always makes my hair starchy. Well I guess we should get to Wilhelm's... I don't really want to have this Skall call..."
August- "Yeah, it's gonna be a shamozzle. All those progenitors, Aubrey gives me the willies."
Quinn: "This is going to be proverbial carnage..."
Chloë- "A shamozzle! That's a great word. Yeah... at least they'll just be on the computer."
Quinn: "And practically ALL of the progenitors 'give me the willies'."
August- "Even the cute little one?" Chloë walked them to the roll up gate, and shut off all the lights. She had to hop to reach the pull down. Chloë- "Oh I know, she looks like she'd be so sweet"
Quinn: "....Well I suppose she's alright." Chloë- "But... she isn't. She was nice to me, but she gave me a creepy look when Wilhelm wasn't watching."
August: "Darn.. what did I tell ya, Q. Kangaroos in the top paddock."
Quinn: "Let's just call the safe bet that all Progenitors are daft as a brush then, shall we?" The gravel lot was completely empty except August's car. The roads were bare and there wasn't even the sound of traffic-- just wind and the creaking of sheet metal.
August: "I still have my doubts about you!" Brushes are pretty useful."
Quinn: "....Did you just insinuate that I was mental?"
Chloë- "Oh you guys!"
August: "The polite term is a little funny but yes."
Quinn: He sounded not a little indignant, "Well then."
Chloë stood by the car door. "I don't even know what crazy means after talking to Lord Greyburn. It's like it lost its meaning."
August: "Yeah, what is nuts if ya in a nut factory?"
Chloë- "I would've been scared to be somewhere like this alone before. I kind of am still... but I guess I could turn into a monkey and hop away if there was a bad guy." She looked around the empty lot.
August: "I'll protect ya!"
Quinn: He followed her eyes around the lot, walking near her, "...It's funny how we've changed, isn't it?"
August smiled rather proudly. "I haven't."
Chloë- "Yeah I like to think I'm braver now. I used to be too scared to go to the laundry room at the dorms by myself."
Quinn: "Not changing isn't necessarily something to be proud of," he told August bluntly.
August gave Quinn a funny look. "I'd reckon it is in this case."
Quinn: "We'll see."
Chloë- "You were already brave! I'd be too scared to go to another country. Maybe if I had a gun though... you probably don't get to keep a gun huh." They loaded up the car, and Chloë got August going the right direction. August: "No... no gun. I had to learn how to defend myself without one."
Chloë- "Do you know martial arts?"
August guffawed loudly. "Heck no, I give em a sound talking to or if I really gotta I punch them in the face. Though I kinda bit the kelpie..."
Chloë- "Oh man I don't think anyone would be impressed if I tried to yell at them. Maybe I'll try someday."
August: "Ya never know, you could flash ya monster face too. That's help even though it's adorable."
Quinn: "I'd been hoping to learn a bit more hand-to-hand, but I suppose that may not be possible anymore." Chloë- "Wilhelm said he'd teach me to sword fight but we haven't started yet."
August- "SWORDS?! I'll teach ya gunfight, that's where the real honour is." Chloë- "Okay!" They drove through the warehouse district, devoid of life. Further down by the waterworks, a car sat in an empty lot with the headlights on. Chloë eyeballed it, but nothing happened as they passed by. Quinn: "Well I didn't like the look of that one bit."
Chloë- "I don't like this part of town. I almost thought thought that could be Crowboys. That was probably just a drug dealer. "
August sped up a little. "I heard about them! Bullies.. poor Sophie." Chloë- "Yeah, they really scared me the other day. I really hope that wasn't because-- well... we didn't kill that crowboy anyway."
Quinn: "Just don't think about it. We've got enough on our collective plates as is..." He meant to sound comforting.
August: "Yeah, there are better ways to solve problems. Maybe we can try a truce?"
Chloë- "I wish we could do a truce. I don't see why they're so mad at us. That one guy got killed but he was being a real jerk."
August: "Is it cause we we have hair?"
Chloë- "Ohh true."
Quinn: He resisted a strong urge to put his head into his hands.
August: "It'd be pretty sad to lose my locks. I'd get real angry too."
Chloë- "It's too bad, now we have to worry about two different kinds of bad guys. Oh and the progenitors too!"
Quinn: "Beset upon all sides by the tides of war."
August: "We've got to stick together! At least we have Wilhelm."
Chloë- "Do you guys think that Theodore guy will be dangerous for us? He already-- well, you know. Maybe we won't have to see him again."
Quinn: "Maybe we won't...but we probably will. I don't think this little war is done with us yet."
August: "He doesn't seem to be, he was like a kitten to old Babs."
Chloë- "I hope so..." The brighter lights, and busier streets of the international district welcomed them. The nightlife here was distinctly middle-aged alcoholic flavored, but it was something. Chloë- "Okay it's just past the waterfront... umm... we probably want to take a different street, huh."
August looked out. "Anyone hungry?"
Chloë- "Oh, you have an idea? How do you guys get blood with Santi?"
Quinn: Quinn flushed a little....or would have if he could have, "....Someone usually has to help me."
August: "I don't know I've used both techniques. I was thinking we find someone real drunk and wait for them to pass out. Probably not a real good idea. "
Chloë- "That's okay, me too. I helped Wilhelm get some guys behind a building but only 'cause I said I saw some money back there. Oh gosh, we'd get totally wasted, haha. Maybe that'd be nice."
August: "It'd take the edge of that Skall call."
Quinn: "Make us look like a couple of right tits though, wouldn't it?"
Chloë- "Hahaha... Quinn, that's naughty."
August: "Hehehe Good one Chloë.
Quinn: "Eh?" He looked confused.
Chloë- "You said we'd look like boobs. That would be pretty weird looking..."
Quinn: "Oh bless me, no! It's...stars and garters, it's slang! It ehm...means someone who looks or behaves foolishly." Chloë- "Oh!! That makes more sense." There were some dissolute drunkards hanging around cramped bars. The clubs were fancier down by the waterfront, and the clientelle younger and sexier Chloë - "Maybe we go down by the restaurants, sometimes they have art shows. The people here look like they probably have knives."
August: "It's terrible, do ya know how many people die from knife wounds? A lot! "
Quinn: "Good point, Chloe pet....though I doubt they're composed enough to use them.
Quinn: He looked Side-eye at August the Gun Enthusiast going on about knife wounds.
August drove to the more artsy side. "Who looks like a good target, Chloë?" They passed the shady part of the international district, toward the sloping hills that led to the waterfront. The night had stretched thin, and last call was looming. The occasional brave soul walked by themselves, and small groups clustered around entrances, unwilling to let the night end just yet.
Chloë- "Well one tricky part is we don't have anyone to put them to sleep. What should we do instead?"
Quinn: He snorted, "Seduction?" Chloë- "Jack said he has to have sex with people until they fall asleep. "
August laughed. "Crikey!!"
Chloë - "I know... I don't know how to seduce people"
Quinn: "It's alright, pet, neither do I. I was just having a laugh."
Chloë - "Maybe we can give them a ride to the apartment and put a pillowcase on their head... that's not nice though."
August: "Just being friendful usually helps. I don't like violence but maybe a bop to the head?"
Chloë - "I don't think a brick would hurt very much... right? I mean, not, um. Nevermind. Oh we could get them so drunk they pass out! That helps if we get someone small then."
August: "I like that idea! "
Quinn: "Do we have time for that?"
Chloë - "Yeah we should find someone who's almost passed out already."
August: "I have my cookies and we could take them home so they're safe after."
Quinn: "Again, do we have time for that?"
August looked indignant. " There's always time for safety. We can't just leave them on the road!"
Chloë - "Brinea on my floor was always getting blackout drunk in the hall, I had to drag her into her room and she puked all over."
Quinn: "We also have to eat. We don't have to save everyone from themselves, you know."
Chloë - "Maybe we can call them a cab. I think we have about twenty minutes..."
August just glared at Quinn. He turned to Chloë "I'm okay with that. Alright, which bar? The fancy one or the fancier one?"
Quinn rolled his eyes quietly and leaned back a bit in his seat, letting the other two plan a bit. The fanciest bar had slightly older clientelle. A group outside smoked, they looked like college professors gone wild. The slightly less fancy bar had a younger group, reminiscent of the crowd in front of the theater that one time. August picked the younger crowd, taking a park close by.Nearby, a woman stood at a bus stop nervously, and a girl in a black tutu wobbled down an alley in platform shoes.August: "Tutu or bus stop?" August pulling along side the club seem to signal to the crowd to break up, there were some kisses on the cheek, and the crowd parted ways, leaving a pair of hardened smokers, unwilling to stub out just yet. Chloë - "The bus stop lady seems pretty sober"
Quinn: "Tutu. Bus stops are occasionally monitored. Wouldn't do to get caught."
August: "Alright tutu it is. Did ya ever wear tutus Chloë?" Chloë - "Haha not since primary school. I couldn't get my feet pointy enough to be good at ballet." August: "Girls are weird." He headed up slowly towards the girl. "Hey? Are ya alright there?" Chloë - "I'm not weird..." she followed a distance behind, trying to look casual. Quinn: He was happy to let them go first, realizing that three people coming up to one girl would seem scary and planned. The woman glanced over her shoulder, and kept walking. She carried a big, oddly shaped plastic bag August: "I'm not trying nothing. Ya just kinda look lost."
The woman slowed down, and turned to look at August.
Woman- "Hm? Oh, no, I live around here..."
She sounded like she had a jawbreaker in her mouth. Probably moderately wasted, or actually had a jawbreaker in her mouth. August: "In an alley?"
Woman - "Hahaha!" She shifted the bag, and it clattered. Quinn picked up the sound from back where he was and his brow furrowed a bit. Woman must have had a bloody load of cosmetics in that bag....or a lot of bottles.Woman - "No, in my studio..." she gestured vaguely toward the waterfront.
August: "Well ya look like ya could use some help and maybe a stiff drink?"
Chloë moved back to stand with Quinn. "This is awkward..." she whispered supernaturally
Quinn whispered back in equally vampiric tones, "It's giving me a case of the willies, it is...and we're the bloody walking dead."
Woman - "Hmm...' She sized August up. "Guess a criminal wouldn't go around dressed like that."
August grinned. "It'd be a bit silly huh? What's ya poison?"
Woman - "Okay, give me something strong, but you're carrying these plates." She thrust the plastic bag at him.
August took the bags with an awkward face. "Okay. I like ya tutu." The bag clattered.
Woman- "Thanks. I like your... hat. So is it a theme night somewhere? Or did you have your own show?" August walked the woman back toward the car, Chloë edged around the corner as they approached. The woman had a striped shirt, and very uncomfortable looking shoes. In the brighter light coming from the club, her brilliant pink hair could be seen. She looked very tired, and the makeup around her eyes had worn down to a vague gray ring. She said her name is Violet, and she stood awkwardly outside the bar the younger crowd escaped from. Last call was nearing but the door was still open.Violet - "I don't wanna haul this stuff inside or they'll think I'm even more of a bag lady than I really am. Maybe just grab me something. I don't care what. But if you're gonna slip me a roofie, don't bother."
August: "I'll see if they do take out. I ain't that kinda guy don't worry." He went in and ordered a bottle of something strong. She accepted it, and went ahead and downed it on the street. She walked over to a trash can and dumped the bag of dishes. Violet- "You know, fuck it. Just fuck this stupid show, I don't care." She flipped the bird at a building called "Pamplemousse. "Violet - "So do you wanna go back to my place or what? One time offer, I'd like to get my mind off this bullshit. Hell, I'll do it in the fucking alleyway, I don't care." Quinn: He looked curiously at Chloe, one eyebrow raised, wondering what was actually going on with this girl.
Chloë-(whisper to Quinn) "Oh man, bad show. I know that feeling. Well not doing it in an alleyway afterward. But I bought a really big latte to cheer myself up." August decided since she lived nearby, it'd be better to wait for her to pass out at her own home. He offered gentlemanly condolences. She grudgingly agreed, and pointed out a building a block away, some hideous artist's lofts. The BADA students had heard of them, but word was that they'd already been condemned.August: "So ya like a dancer or actress? I'm a film director myself." Quinn: He continued to whisper in their inhumanly low way to Chloe, "If they go into the lofts, do we stay here or follow at a distance, pet?"
Chloë - "Yeah, if those guys make out it's gonna be like too weird."
August put a hand over his mouth and whispered. "I ain't gonna do that, grow up y'all."
Chloë- *embarrassed giggle* Quinn: "Tell Chloe, not me, you blighter."
Violet - "I do installations. Well I did one. Bullshit. I hate the scene here." Some wastrels hang around the front entrance, smelling like paint thinner. August eyed them nervously but followed her in. August- "Yeah, folks like mediocracy." Violet opened a big set of double doors, the front was unlocked, thanks to wastrel-kind, and a phonebook holding it open.
August: "Ya certainly got a.. .err rustic thing going on here, Violet. Are ya a student?" The inside of the lobby was water damaged and mildewy, she opened a rusty elevator gate and led August to her filthy studio. Violet - "Well I was, you know this place used to be nicer. At least it's cheap. Do you want some H or something? Guy across has some, I'll pay him back later." She flopped in a musty old sofa and closed her eyes. Broken dishes lay all over some old wooden tables, and the room smelled like epoxy, enough to get a person stoned just by standing around in it Quinn: To Chloe "So, poppet, should we follow them...?" Chloë- "OK... omg don't look at that guy on the skateboard. I totally know him." She kept her head turned away from a paint smeared gangly kid practicing shitty ollies. He patted her shoulder in a comforting way that was in no way condescending (Well...perhaps a little), Quinn- "There there, Chloe dear."
Chloë- "Thanks Quinn. " She practically ran for the door and skidded over the broken tiles inside. Wastrels could hardly get their eyes focused on her in time to notice.
August shook his head vigorously, oh no, not another one. August- "Err do ya have anything to drink?" He hoped she'd pass out soon and not from doing H.
Violet - "Oh yeah, look under the... uh, the paint... thing... knock yourself out. Speedball Steve-- he's got... hm. If you're into that..."
August gulped, if he was still mortal he'd be jetting out of there. "Violet?" He said hopefully and gave her a poke in the arm just to be sure.
Violet - "Uh uh..." she mumbled, and let her mouth hang open. Someone on the floor above moved, and the floor creaked disturbingly. She made no special reaction. August shrugged sadly then starting mentally calling the other two.
Chloë got in the creaky, terrifying elevator, and held the gate for Quinn. Quinn: He slipped in next to her and felt a very human lurch of apprehension when it creaked even under his abnormally light weight. Chloë- "Wow this is exciting. We're going to get so drunk! Haha..." Quinn: "...Words can't expressed how chuffed I am about that...."
The elevator made a terrible racket, but Violet was snoozing through it. Chloë led the charge, and wrinkled up her nose at the epoxy stench. Chloë- *whispers* "Good job August! Wow this is the first time I've done this without Wilhelm or Jack!"
August looked embarrassed and *whispered* "Honestly she did most of the work herself, poor thing."
Quinn followed more quietly behind her, brows furrowed at the stink of the place. He snorted softly to try and clear the smell out.
Quinn: "What a charming domicile."
August *Whisper* " Don't be rude, just cause ya had a silver spoon."
Quinn: *whisper* "I'll remind you that I've lived in a low-rent environment as well, August."
Chloë - "This place is pretty cool, too bad it's all um, how it is."
August snorted at Quinn.
Chloë- "So uh, how do we share?"
August: "I ain't never shared but yeah, only take a little. Who wants to go first?"
Chloë- "You should go first since you got us here. I'm not that hungry but thank you for asking "
August - "Alright." He monstered up gently taking an arm and drank a small dose of blood. Oh yeah, that blood was ripe! August feels pretty tipsy after one go.
The artwork on the walls was somewhat interesting, it was hard to tell whether it was finished or not. The broken plates seemed to be a theme, these ones were painted over in colorful globs of oil paint.
Quinn raised an eyebrow at August's snort and folded his arms over his chest, standing off to the side a bit.Chloë- "Maybe I should be designated driver. Hm, well on the other hand... seeing those progenitors... Quinn, you can go next." The woman had one arm lying limp off the edge of the sofa, August's bite was already there so... Quinn: "....I don't know. Perhaps I should wait until after this call and just find someone else..." He winced at the sight of the drunken woman.
Chloë- "OK, you can drive!" Chloë went for it, trying to hit the same spot. She crouched down and drank. Might be a little weird to see someone else drinking blood. August grinned slightly lopsided. "We'll find ya a nice tea drinker!" Down the hall, the elevator shuddered to life. Quinn: "Well, that's that then, I suppose. By the by, we might have incoming."
August went O-o and peeked out to the hall. The elevator was rolling downward.
Chloë- "Oh man!" She almost said it too loud, and clamped a hand over her mouth. "okay, uh, we should go out the window."
August - "Oh, ya fine Chloë. Phew! How we were gonna explain that? Window hopping, alright!"
Chloë- "Heheh!" She skidded over to the smeary window, and cracked it open. The city noise rushes in, but Violet only mumbled lightly, and flopped the arm over her face. Chloë hopped out abruptly, in a way that'd seem pretty disturbing to a human. Her laugh was carried in on the wind.August followed her without a thought, glad to be out of the apartment. Quinn approached the window more cautiously, looking down before easing out more carefully.
CLANG! Chloë landed on the hood of a dusty old pickup truck. Below the window was a gravel parking lot with a few scattered cars. One being more thoughtful could scale their way down. The side of the building faced the water front, and a freeway. Someone could see the building from there, but it was blocks away, and how likely would anyone be to look?
CRunkkkkkHHH! August landed on a car nearby and awkwardly shuffled off. He put a dent in a 30 year old beige hatchback, but it blended in with all the other dents.
August: "Should I write down my number or something?"
Quinn took the safer option of scaling down rather than just jumping willy-nilly. The wind shook him and ruffled his hair as he made his way down the rough brick, but he made it down safely.
Chloë was laughing her head off, and slid off the hood of the car. August looked back at the dented car. It didn't seem that bad off... probably still ran and everything. Chloë- "Oh my goooshhh!"
Quinn: "Charming. Well then, shall we?"
August handed Quinn his keys. "Take it easy, I don't want no dents myself." It became apparent, Chloë was a lightweight. She grabbed on to August's arm and swung around.August grinned and held her tight. He didn't want her falling off or worse.
Quinn: "You two do both recall that I'm not particularly good at this whole driving lark, yes?" He took the keys though.
Chloë- "Better than us! Hahaha..." The wastrels came around the corner to see what the commotion was.August: "How come ya never learnt, ya duffer!"
Quinn: "Well, when was I meant to?" He huffed and started back towards the car. The skateboarder attempted to roll over the gravel, and decided instead, to use his feet. Chloë picked up a rock. "Oh no, look at that!" She tossed it and it feebly bounced off the brick wall. She used this opportunity to leap over a chainlink fence and go running up the hill. The wastrels were nonplussed.
August: O-O He raced after her. " CHLOEEE!"
Quinn: "Wait! We're going to be bloody well late, you two!" Skateboarder - "Whoa. Dogg." Shitty Tattoos - "Bruh." Vintage Mechanic Shirt - "Dogg." Chloë threw back her head with laughter and jumped on the hood of August's car. Thankfully she didn't leave a dent when she wasn't jumping from a fourth floor window. Chloë- "GET IT TOGETHER! WE GOTTA GO! HA HA!"
August relaxed. "Hey ya not a monkey now ya know!!"
Quinn followed behind the two of them, sighing a little more dramatically than was strictly necessary.
Chloë- "Oh that's true." She hopped down.August smiled. "I can't believe ya did that. What was it like being a monkey?"
Chloë- "everyone was really big..." They were running about five minutes late, not that there was a strict time schedule. Chloë's phone buzzed. "Yeah yeah yeah..." she mumbled, and didn't answer. Quinn finally trotted up, sliding into the driver's seat of the car, "And there you are. We're tardy now, aren't we?"
August: "Are ya worried we're gonna get the strap wot wot?"
Quinn: "That is not how I sound." Chloë- "We can have monkey parties, oh my gosh August, you gotta become a monkey soon."
August: "Monkey party!!"
Chloë- "You guys are gonna be soooo cute when you're monkeys. Not that you're not already cute!!" The car was pretty swank, and Quinn probably had to do some adjusting to the seat to reach the pedals. He fiddled around with the seat, accidentally chunking the entire thing back too far before huffing and finally getting it to the right position to accommodate his legs.Chloë- "Oh man who do you guys think is the cutest?! I heard some people have crushes on people but I'm not gonna tell!!"
August: "Where's the fun if ya don't? Besides I'm sure ya all have crushes on me. "
Quinn's phone rang. He blinked and fumbled it out of his trousers, answering it automatically, "Hello?"
Chloë- "Mayyybe! xDD Okay, someone has a crush on Wilhelm! Not me! I mean, not who I'm talking about! HAHAHA!"
Wilhelm- "Ah, I uh, can hear you have Chloë with you. Are you nearly here?"
August: "On Wilhelm?! Is it Babette?"
Quinn tried to shush Chloe and August with his free hand, speaking to Wilhelm, "I have Chloe and August. We're en route now. They needed to eat first."
Chloë *loud whisper*- "Nooo, oh although I didn't ask her. Maybe! Someone else, but I can't tell you!"
August grinned *Whispering loudly* "That only leaves Ru ya duffer!"
Wilhelm - "Ehm, alright then. Do hurry, 'zeh meeting's beginning soon."
Chloë- "Oh my gosh doooon't tell, I wasn't supposed to tell I promised! "
Quinn: "I'm attempting to. I will warn you in advance, however, that my compatriots are a little bit...well...for lack of a better word, they're pissed."
August- " I won't tell no one, I'm good at secrets. Just ask Jack. I didn't tell nothing!"
Wilhelm - "Heh, it's just as well. These things are always so awkward. See you soon, Quinn."
Chloë- "Oh yeah! I forgot, good job about that. See, I'm usually good at them because I forget. But this time I didn't forget... : / "
Quinn: "We'll be there as fast as possible," he said and clicked to end the connection. He turned to Chloe for directions the rest of the way.
Chloë- "Oh uhhhh..." She rattled them off, and Quinn found using the GPS was probably easier. It wasn't too far, and the roads were next to empty. Quinn started the car to the best of his limited, old knowledge before pulling out to drive to house so they could be a part of the meeting.Chloë- "Quinn who do you like??? It'll be a total secret, and I mean it this time."
Quinn: "I don't...I don't 'like' anyone...." It didn't sound entirely true, but whether or not they'd pick up on it was a different story entirely. Lucky that the road had cleared, or un-parallel parking would've been a nightmare. He might've gotten a bit of a headrush rolling down the hill, but the trip the rest of the way was fairly easy.
Chloë- "Do you think anyone is pretty? I think Florence is so pretty, and Sarah is pretty if she wasn't mean."
Quinn: "Don't you think that should be people's private business, sweetie?"
Chloë- "I guesss, but it's fun to talk about."
Quinn: "Hm. For some, I suppose."
August: "I think Flo is real pretty but Sarah scares me. Like to death.. again."
Chloë- "I know me too!!" Wilhelm's apartment was part of a slightly outdated block of former condos, previously to be inhabited by employees of now defunct software companies. Quinn pulled up to the nearest, easiest accessible parking spot (even though he probably still made a dog's dinner of parking the car). Parking on the street seemed easiest, as the underground parking was a weird, winding labyrinth. Chloë- "I think all the guys are hot. Not Tomasz, but kind of everyone else."
August: "Even Aubrey?!" Quinn made a strangled noise in his throat. Chloë- "Haha, kind of! xDD"
August: "Weeeiiirddd." XXXDDD
Chloë- "He's so glamorous, like a crazy king or something. I guess he was sort of royalty, I don't remember that holy ages stuff." Quinn pulled up to a spot on the street, wincing a little as he did so. The group unloaded, and Quinn had to pay an exorbitant parking fee. The buzz on the buzzed ones was already wearing off a bit. After dutifully shelling out the fee, Quinn turned to Chloe, Quinn: "Do you know the way, pet?"
Chloë- "Quinn you're so responsible. You're like a grown up."
August frowned. "Oh shootfire, I wish they could find a way to keep the buzz going. Stupid vampire blood. Can I have me keys back, Q?" ((He totally has a gun keyring by the way and it's sparkly>))
Quinn: "Here you are, August lad. Have them with my blessing. Ehm...Cheers, Chloe?"
Chloë- "Okay yeah, follow me!"
She had an electronic fob on the strap of her gigantic, mustard yellow purse. The buzzed ones still had to hush their voices as they went through the halls to Wilhelm's. The building was nice, and probably very expensive fifteen years ago. Now they'd be mostly be inhabited by wealthy old folks too proud to go to the retirement center.
Wilhelm opened the door before they even got to it. Wilhelm- "Welcome, glad to see you in good spirits. Heh, so to speak."
Chloë- "Yeah these guys are so fun."
Quinn: "Have we kept everyone waiting?"
Wilhelm - "No, it's fine. We were waiting for Gaston-Louis and some others, but I do not think they are going to show."
August: " Hi Wil!! Hey how come ya live with so many old people? Did ya know any of them like when they were young?" He ushered them inside. "Haha, they might know something was up if I did." August: "Yeah but old people have bad eyesight." Wilhelm's apartment was sparely decorated, mostly black and modern style. There were a bunch of pillows and blankets laying around in front of a flatscreen television. They seemed out of place, like someone had just had a slumber party. Wilhelm had a laptop covered in colorful stickers, and was furrowing his brow at it. Wilhelm- "Chloë, how do you move this so it doesn't have 'zeh plug..." There were some tasteful framed nudes on the wall, and posters from old silent films, of course. Chloë went to help Wilhelm, they stood in the completely barren and spotless kitchen.
August went and looked at the old movie posters. Running his finger along them and trying to spot Wilhelm. "Die DunkleGhul" starring William Marr had nothing but faded red and white text, but was signed by some of the key actors. No William Marr though.
Quinn drifted a little to look at the nudes, watching how the light and shadow played over the skin. He enjoyed them subjectively. The nudes were from various eras, and some seemed quite old.Chloë- "Umm, okay, oh hi Helen!" She moved the laptop onto the bare kitchen table. The Skall was going, split into eight connections.
Quinn left off his exploration of the nudes to go and join in the call. "Hi!" He took his hat off in respect.
August- "..."
Chloë- "Oh..." she turned to look at the others, "She looks really sad..." Everyone gathered around for the call to begin...
