"That sounds real tough, Dom. I hate getting gravel in me shoes and I used to fall asleep in church. I couldn't imagine it all the time. Not being able to be ya self." "In order to create art ya have to be free to express ya true inner being . I reckon it's all good as long as you ain't hurting someone else. Cause even bananas can leave a bruise." "So whatever floats ya goat!"

Quinn was actually interested in what Marchese said in that far-away place of his. It was a strangely 'human' look into the elder Vampire. It was better than getting felt up at any rate."Sir...what did you do, you know, before all of this?" He spoke like he'd been moneyed at some point and hadn't enjoyed it...it was something Quinn could identify with.

Marchese- "Bananas leave a-- Oh! Ahaha you dirty boy."
Marchese- "Before this? Well, how 'before'? I've been in Glenland since before your grandparents were born. I've been here, I've been there. Spent a decade or so in Grauland after staying a few decades in Koromo. Before that is a whirl of ancient travels, but half-nude men don't seek a travelogue, I'm sure. I died in Litan, if that's what you're asking, I have a box of the mother land's soil upstairs to prove it. I spent most of my human life cooped up with a crowd of sexless men in scratchy robes. Well, sexless for most of the day, anyhow."
Marchese- "How about you fellows? I know your years are short, but I'm sure they've been filled with intrigue and scandal. What's the most outrageous thing you've ever done? Don't spare the details! If you satisfy my desire, I will tell you a sordid tale involving the Grand Priest of the Holy Order, circa some three hundred years ago. It's quite the party piece, I've been told."

"Why else would he put gravel in his shoe and pray? Ya a bit slow Q-dawg! That ain't scandalous at all. I was doing all those things when I was four! Though I've never hit a girl... Did ya really hit a girl, Q?" Marchese- "I always did hear that Antearctos was a reverent place, how nice!"
"What's the most outrageous thing I've done? Well my ma would say moving to Glenland, she cried so hard when I got into BADA. Ma threatened to disown me and everything. There were bulletholes in all me portraits. She's alright now though.. Well, was." Marchese- "You'll forget your parents, in time. I've forgotten mine some centuries ago." "What I reckon the most outrageous thing I've ever done is? Me and me ex girlfriend Fiona went to the local abattoir and tried to free all the cows. It didn't go so well though. We drove for hours, got lost. Then when we finally got there, all dressed in black with clippers ready to go. We cut a big hole in the fence... and the cows just stood there and look at us. Then the cops showed up and we had to make a run for it. To this day I still wonder if any made it out. Poor silly duffers."
Marchese- "If they made it out, they were probably eaten by wild animals. Oh well!"

Quinn looked over at August."To be fair, she was behaving in a manner unbefitting a lady and it was only with the back of my hand. She had her hand on my forehead at the time."
Marchese- "Sometimes it's the only way to get them to listen! Ha!"

((I'll move this along a bit but don't hesitate to make any comments that can be edited in before the end)) Marchese- "Well well well, that's not so very naughty, you two. Hm, you'll just have to create new memories, new stories."
He snaked an arm around Quinn's chest and bear hugged him like a pool toy. Marchese- "Oh I've heard of an amusing game, shall we give it a go? It's called "Truths or Dares," I'll go first. I dare this little one to--"
The sliding door opened, and someone stepped on to the patio. Santi looked bedraggled and wide-eyed. Santi- "Father, there's a call for you."
Marchese- "It can wait-- what time is it?"
Santi- "It's almost time. And it's important."
August- "Time? Time for what y'all?"
Marchese- "Damn damn damn, and we were having such fun. Well if it's almost that time, they'll just have to wait. You know I can't-- *deep sigh*" He let his hands slide all over Quinn before letting him go, and he flickered through the shadows to stand in the doorwell. Marchese- "The curse of being charming, I tell you. Boys, don't miss me too much. Buon divertimento mentre sei giovane!"
He went back inside to change, easily spied upon through the glass, and shot furtive, sly looks to see if anyone was watching. Santi- "Boys, uh, stay here." Santi gave them a meaningful stare, and turned to walk stiffly indoors.

((edited in first part above))
August hopped less magically out of the pool and more like a wet dog. Water pouring on the floor and running back into the pool.
He turned back to poor Quinn swimming his clothes. "This been a darn weird night. Are ya alright, Q-dawg? That isn't ya favourite vest is it?"

On the other side of the glass, Santi hurried Marchese along, to much indistinct grousing.

Quinn was too stunned by the feeling-up to protest or stop Marchese's explorations. He could only stare until Santi appeared. He turned his deer-in-the-headlights look onto his 'Father' until both disappeared. In the end, he let out a shuddering sigh and looked to August."I'm...I'm fine." He clawed his way awkwardly out of the pool and flopped gracelessly onto the ground, staring up."...What do you think is going on? It's all so dreadfully clandestine..."

When the lapping of the pool water died down, the boys could hear distant voices, and feet going up steps.Marchese - "It's five 'til, my figlio. We're not going to have time. You know I can't do anything."
Santi - "I know, why don't you just rest in the lounge and I'll bring you the phone when you've recovered."
Marchese - Ah bene... I was so close to getting you a replacement. At least, an alternate.
Santi- "... Let's not talk of that now, it's almost time."
Marchese- "Goodness, I nearly lost track earlier. Imagine if I'd gone into a reverie in the pool, those boys could have taken advantage of me! Ahahaha..."
Santi- "...Sure."

The parts of the conversation that Quinn caught were, frankly, unsettling. They weren't outright sinister, but something about them settled wrong with him."August, lad, what have we jolly well gone and gotten our old selves mixed up in?"

" I dunno, I reckon it's just weird progenitor stuff. They're all a few kangaroos loose in the top paddock. I can take a look if ya like and get ya some dry clothes. He probably just wants a nanna nap." " I'll climb up, that way I ain't technically disobeying Santi. I'm pretty sure I left our window unlocked..." August began scaling the mansion wall towards the talking sounds, grabbing loose shadows along the way.

The lounge was somewhat in the middle of the second floor, but August found a hall window where he could peer into the entrance, but the elder vampires were hidden from view. He could hear the quiet voices better at this vantage. Santi - "I'll go get... the phone."
Marchese- "Yes, thank you, Santi."
Santi- "*mumble*"
Santi stepped out of the room, around the corner, and leaned his back against the wall. His expression softened, he closed his eyes, and slid down to crouch on his heels. The hall clock chimed seven times. From inside the lounge, a low voice began to intone.Marchese- "Altissimo onnipotente, buon Signore, tue son le lodi, la gloria e l’onore e ogni benedizione. A te solo, Altissimo, si attribuiscono e nessun uomo è degno di nominarti..."
