Vitus perched on a stool. Vitus- "A polymath. Nice... So was this something like like a salon for you? How much time did you spend here?"

Vitus- "Sounds pretty casual, but salons usually were. I ran with a group of art schoolies. They were more serious about art than I ever would be. But also serious about good times. We had occasions at least once a week, besides hanging out with each other as much as possible. Modernism was a thing back then - every art clique thought it had the big wisdom for the age..."
He turned away slightly and looked down. Vitus- "I really don't remember what the wisdom was in that group. Went straight from that into a kind of long nightmare, thinking about them tends to lead into thinking about the other."

He relaxed a bit. When he picked something out, it was from his time as a vampire. Maybe remembering being human at all was the painful part. Vitus- "It might be the first time I realized Helen might be a bit daffy. It wasn't a gut-buster, more like, a thing where you had to be there. Demetri and Helen were taking me out and about, trying to lift my spirits. This was the beginning of the Great Peace and the whole world was having a recklessly good time.
We were doing the boardwalk when Helen stops us to stare at this storefront. She was keen on these dolls, spoke excitedly about all the ins and outs of them - Oh this one has a new sailor suit, that one has hand sewn brocade on its ruff. It took me a moment to realize, but they were all in the likeness of Collingwood's 'Pink Boy'. It had become a whole kitschy thing since the last time I'd seen it."

Vitus- "Maybe I shouldn't say much about my relationships with the others, so I don't prejudice your own. What is your funniest memory?"

Vitus- "That sounds about right. It's a shame neither of us had a funny 'ha ha' story. I am given to understand that comedy writing is a very challenging art."

Vitus- "Hey, those thousands of books weren't about to read themselves."
Vitus- "Do you think you'd work if you didn't have to? I suspect a lot of people who'd answer 'yes' haven't really thought it through. Hobbies, y'know? Wouldn't anyone rather set their own tasks than be compelled by another?"
{originally} "Hmm...It depends on the job, I think. Being an eternal waiter doesn't sound very fun, for example. But, if I was interested in being a software engineer, it wouldn't be so bad. My dad probably won't even retire until he's like eighty, because he enjoys what he's doing. They give him high-level problems that he might not otherwise have needed to solve. Or...or being a professor, there's a lot of interesting people you meet in academia and you know you're doing something that makes a difference. Hobbies are great and all, but there's only so much a person can do alone." Eli paused and frowned a little before continuing.
"Plus... I don't like being beholden to anyone. I like the idea of making my own money. Is that weird?" Though, Eli was glad to know it wasn't Vitus' hard earned money they had been wasting a few nights ago.

Vitus- "Counterfeiting, sure. It's an ancient and storied trade."
Vitus- "But seriously, that does make sense. I'm upper class, so those scruples missed me." He looked around. "You ought to make a place like this for yourself."
{originally} "Better than bank robbing. That nonsense is for the uncivilized masses, clearly."
"Yeah, I guess that makes sense. Work was kinda an expectation for me... Didn't exactly cross my mind I might end up in some giant mansion and never have to do anything." Eli smiled a little at the thought of owning a gallery like Lou's. "I wish. It'd be nice. Especially if I could live above it, have someone run it during the day. No idea how I'd get the money, though." After all, he didn't have the luxury of a moderately successful business and a decent retirement fund. "As is, I'd be stuck being a bartender or something. Maybe I could try being a model, that'd be hilarious just to see how many rejections I'd get."

Vitus- "Modeling must be a very queer industry these days."
Vitus- "Anyway, a place like this can't cost much. No amenities, nowhere famous..."
{originally} "No, I hear it's mostly straight people. Lanky straight people, anyways." His turn to be a smartass. "Umm... But maybe for rich old vampires, yeah. However, for someone working for minimum wage? It's impossible to afford. You'd be lucky to find just an office like this for less than a thousand a month, probably more because it's in a "safe" area of town. Plus..." Eli walked over to the slightly ajar door, completely opened it, and flicked on the lights, revealing a modest sized gallery. "This is a gallery, after all. You need all that space, too. That would bring the total to at least a couple thousand, maybe more, and not including utilities."
He walked back over to the chair and slumped into it."But, that's why I want to work. Even if I'm making a tiny bit, maybe some day I could make something like starting a gallery a reality." He smirked. "And, hey, you guys are all loaded. Maybe some of your fortune will rub off on me." Eli tried to be optimistic. It would be difficult, but at least there was a tiny sliver of hope.

Vitus- "Might as well be millions for all the sense these numbers make to me."
He didn't bother to change seats as he continued.
"But this principle is just getting silly. Accept some money from Sombreta. She wouldn't even remember it happened in a week."

Vitus seemed oblivious, but maybe he was just lightning quick at strategizing when uncomfortable.
Vitus- "Hey, we should stop leaving evidence all over the place, right? I was just thinking. I'm in charge of two or more gay vampires now, right? Maybe it's time to learn how you seduce men. So I can know if there's any different considerations I have to help you with. We can go somewhere and you can show me how it's done?"
{originally} For a moment, Eli's face scrunched up like he was solving a particularly difficult math problem or being forced to choose whether Jason or Tristan had the most fab booty.
"Ehhh...Pretty much anything you learn about me will probably be useless for Jack. We seem pretty different in most things. But maybe it could help with Jason?" Eli wasn't sure he'd be useful in teaching Vitus about Jason, either, but they did get along extremely well, at least. Vitus- "I guess you do seem more scholarly and shy about meeting new people than Jack. Other than that, I can't tell the difference - no offense."
"On two conditions, though: we take a quick run through the gallery and, after the club, we've gotta swim. I think I might die for real if I wait another day. I haven't gone this long without swimming since I was, like, ten." Vitus- "Swimming of all things? I'm sure we can find a hotel swimming pool that isn't too creepy by the airport."

{Montage of probably not canon stuff} Yea verily, they did speed through the gallery (or mebbe not) and moved onto their next destination. Eli whipped out his phone and started researching different clubs. After a few minutes, he found something that looked mildly appealing and had positive reviews. The club was named Monster and seemed to appeal to many different types. After the last club experience, he'd made sure to pick somewhere vastly different.
The club was smaller and tamer, but still as dimly lit as the last. The crowd seemed to vary widely, with no particular 'clique' dominating the scene. Eli led Vitus by the hand towards the more crowded area of the club, parting the sea of flames like some kind of gay genie. Thus began a montage of fabulous proportions... "Vitus, stop looking at that guy or he's going to come over here and grab your butt!"
Vitus- "Seriously? Do you communicate like bees?" (Staring at tall, broody stranger) "Wait, wait, am I hypnotizing that guy? Can I influence him? Obey me, for I am your master. Muahaha!" Vitus- "Maybe you can influence his collarbone." (Hitting on Kastanian d00d) "Eyyyy, Tienes una sonrisa muy bonita.¿Puedo invitarte un trago?" (('You have a beautiful smile. Can I buy you a drink?'))
Esteban- "Podes mercar me por nada" (Motioning to dude eyeballing Eli) "You see that look? The 'I'm going to murder you and your entire family' stare? That means he's interested." He approached the dude casually, "Heyyyy...."
Vitus- "Oh that isn't right..." Eli tried not to stay too long with one guy, moving from place to place and picking up numbers as he went. After they had been there for a little while, Eli bit his lip and turned to Vitus. "Umm...Do you think you could help me knock this guy out real quick?" He motioned to a big, burly bear of a man, obviously chosen for his abundance of blood. "Or...will we still have time to swim if I do this the long way?"
Vitus- "Yeah, I think these lessons are too much for Vitus to take in one night. We'll move along..." During the night, Eli had really gotten the eye contact thing down pat, and was able to work it into normal contact with a mortal so that they didn't notice anything was amiss. He saw Vitus work his sleepy stylez and wondered how long that would take to learn. It seemed simple enough, but in practice, it hadn't been working yet.The hotel was soundproof, the roar of passenger jets coming and going only felt as a subtle rumble through the world. They stood in the pool area, looking out on the chill luminous water.
Vitus- "So... this is your element?" "Swimming's my sport, yeah. What, did you expect I spontaneously acquired muscle tone by sitting on my butt all day?" Vitus- "Well, now you can keep it, wherever your butt goes."
Eli took off his clothes somewhat out of sight and put on some jammers hastily acquired before arriving at the hotel.Eli- "So, are you gonna join me, or do I have to drag you in?"
Vitus- "Er... No thanks. Think I've turned into a cat sometime in the last hundred years."
Eli dove in, too excited to wait much longer. Although the pool was smaller than his usual fare, it felt amazing simply being immersed in water again. In his excitement, he spurred yet another montage! "C'mon, show me your butterfly! I wanna see..."
Vitus- "I left it at home with my cannonball collection." "Ever try cliff diving? Jason wanted to. I bet it could be a safer way to learn about floating and stuff." Vitus- "Anything is safer than Gracie." "Man, not needing to breathe is so...weird." Eli went under, swimming freestyle around the pool without bothering to come up for "air." "Guess I'll never compete, it just feels like I'm cheating. " Vitus- "Competing is for show-offs. You're swimming because you want to." "Think you could use your magical powers of persuasion to convince Sombreta to add a pool to the estate? That'd be a trip."
Vitus- "You haven't seen the pool?" Vitus- "On second thought, I think you'll be glad to miss the locker room." Vitus immediately had Eli's attention with the mentioning of a pool. "Wait, what? There's a pool and I missed it?! Where is it? Is it big? Does it have lanes? Man, you have to show it to me!" He was evidently to excited about having a pool to focus on what Vitus said afterward.

((Note edits above.))
Later, the while Eli was toweling off, Vitus leaned against the shower room wall easily. Vitus- "Seems like everyone is going to be at that party tomorrow night - all your old friends, some new. Even me. But you had something else going on?"

Vitus- "Well, it goes until question marks, so maybe you can drop by later?" He slipped his cell into a pocket.

Vitus- "Why not?" The gentleman vampires went on their way, diminished beneath the dawn, and were once again dead...
Or were they? ((Could u link me to the last updates on the internet-based foolery, at least whatever he may check shortly after dawn?))
