Another baldy appeared. A bootylicious person danced
to the side, choosing to remain ignorant of the scene.
Wahh they really were like those bad CGI monsters from Mortal Blade!
That slightly distracted Eli from his indignation. Only a little.
The scrappy one disappeared in a black streak, clearly not
shy about using powers in a darkened crowd of humans.

?-
"Here we are again."

Eli-
"What's all this about the Circle? You go around punchin'
newborns because you don't like their grandad?"
Gracie-
"No matter, awl babies must be punched!"
?-
"Grace, give it up."
Gracie-
"Grr. Growl and ruckus, I say!"
Vitus-
"Oh, go cool your head, Gracie."
The scrappy one disappeared in a black streak, clearly not

Eli-
"Y... yikes. So uh, the hizzy, what is it?"
?-
"It's no big deal kid, just more of the same.
But you look different... You are different."
Vitus-
"That was Jack, last week. This is Eli. Eli, Farley.
Not sure, but I think he's asking for an explanation?
For that matter, I'd appreciate one."
Farley-
"Maybe not in th' madding crowd. Come wi'?"
Vitus-
"Let's. Eli?"
Eli-
"Uhmm, okay. I'm using you as a
vampire shield if I need to, though."
Vitus-
"That's a given..."

They looked like a couple of regular joes out for a predawn jog, but unlike breathing joes, they could keep going without a breath. They quickly got into flat terrain, running past old brick buildings that had been repurposed several times over, bits of garbage licking around their feet. Trucks full of bread and milk and other morning goods came out in force for early deliveries.
Other joggers were dressed more athletically, but they didn't stand out too badly. The morning air was misty and dew sparkled on manhole covers and the blades of grass poking out of the cracks. They felt their energy begin to ebb and their senses begin to dull, and knew the sun must be drawing near, though it had not yet even colored the sky.
