A moderately-sized blue house surrounded by hedgerows and a fence on Twenty-ninth and East Union St. There does not seem to be much special or particular about this house besides the pentagrams and Celtic knots on the stones outside around the fence.

"So how about that cup of tea? Had any trouble? We have tales to make your hair curl." He looked around for a comfortable place to sit and anything suspicious.

Patti leaned over to Rob and whispered in his ear so that (hopefully) their host wouldn't hear."He said 'coca tea', dude. Isn't that the stuff they make cocaine from?""I'll just keep watch out here." Wolf looked nonchalant as he let himself back out into the front yard, closing the door behind him.

"…" "Got any Earl grey? English breakfast, Vars?"

Ashley decided to stay outside with Mr. Wolf, when Patti didn't give him guidance on the matter. He would bust in if anything seemed abnormal in there. The inside of the house was decorated with a variety of objects, ranging from a pentagram hanging from the ceiling with things attached, to a small altar near the door covered with smoothed semiprecious stones, old animal bones, and candles.
Despite that the interior appeared neat, if dimly lit. There was probably someone else in the house who was preventing it from looking like an indoor garbage can.
On the shelf a row of candles shaped like women stared back at them. Sylvia- "Uh, no thanks for the tea. What is all of this stuff?" Sylvia stared at everything within the house, and then turned around slowly before studying the others. It was clear the normally aggressive woman wasn't sure what to do. Vars- "Oh, oh yeah, we have plenty of Earl Grey. So, you said you dudes heard something about me? From who? Oh, don't worry about the coca tea, it's really chill, good for an upset stomach." "You all seem pretty intense..."

Rob looked around mystified at all the weird occult stuff. He was getting a bit of a Buffalo Bill vibe from the whole thing. Perhaps Vars' partner wasn't so friendly as Vars.
"Yeah, surviving in an apocalypse will do that to you. It was a Ms Adele Wolfe, said you had some kind of wards for monsters worked out. We need protection, had a few monster break ins over the past months. I would love an Earl Grey tea by the way, I'm sure your coca tea is brill but I'm a snob when it comes to tea. Interesting decor you have going here, very err new world."

Vars- Vars retreats into another room to go round up some tea.
The kitchen was filled with fresh produce in varying stages of preservation, and numerous jars of preserved...things. Most of this was probably food. Otherwise it appeared to be normal, besides a small scroll and a collection of rounded rocks on the shelf. Vars takes one idly and puts it in his palm, before putting a kettle on with the other hand.
His stove appeared to work, but it wasn't magic by any means. "Oh yeah, monsters. We haven't had a lot of trouble with them. I want to say it's because of all the good vibes my house gives off! Hecate's graces and everything, and the protection of Diana... We put protective runes all over the house when I moved in, and I just knew they'd do something good." Vars scratches his head as the tea kettle warms. "Hm, I don't know a Wolf, but lots of people come to visit for produce and stuff dude. It's all pretty peaceful. I think we might move out to the country some day..." Sylvia- "Ah, hm. Hecate? Artemis is like a hunter goddess right?" Sylvia looked extremely skeptical of all of this, but examines the bottled...whatever they were. "Oh, this is pretty decoration.. I like the whole 'moving to the countryside' idea, but being on a shore would come in handy too when all the plants grow back and our buildings fall over."

Patti was a little uncomfortable here, but played it casual while trying to get to the point."So, when you put up the runes, was there any kind of ritual, chanting, special herbs, candles, or paints, or did you just slap it up with a fat cap and can of Krylon and go on about your business? Do you practice the myth or did you just throw everything at the wall to see what stuck?"

Molly entered the house last and was not privy to the interesting discussion that had transpired. She sniffed the air. Beyond the intense incense ...

She grinned."What have you been smoking in this joint, Doll? Hehe. Joint."

Vars- To Patti-"I've always been devout since I was a little guy. I think it's my calling, to serve all the great Goddesses of old. They've all been buried under the modern age, but if someone clears their mind and meditates, you can see they're all the sort of basic balance that we need, yeah? I always had these in the house to protect us from bad juju and bad luck, and it looks like it did its thing, didn't it?" Vars happily looks over his kingdom in the meantime, and puts a hand on a jar of picked vegetables of some kind or another.
To Molly-
Vars gave her a look and then winked slyly."Well, there isn't a lot to do, and I had some homebrew before that. You know, it's gotten even more in demand now that the world is over. I guess people don't have time to do much except..that and fighting. I don't like the fighting stuff..." The teakettle appeared to be finished warming the tea, and he then poured it, picked out the appropriate tea, and let it steep. He poured several for the others in the meantime. "All these things are suddenly like, important..I have so many things that I never thought would come in handy. I don't think some of them will anyways..." Sylvia- "Um, so you don't know what the effective part of...all of this is?" Sylvia looks at the tea, and then decides to take a cup. What harm could come of it? Especially in sealed cups. She was secretly happy that Ashley had decided to stay outside. If something happened, he could bail them out. Vars- "No, and why should we? We should simply believe..." He seems very peaceful all the same.

"Our resident sage says that the efficacy of magicks is based on the intent and focus of the individuals involved in the ritual. So if you found a stash of lovingly handcrafted Santeria protection candles, they would be helpful for their intended purpose. Or a dreamcatcher that wasn't made for tourists but for personal or family use. We've had success with some handcrafted candles that were picked up at a Christian store as well." "Symbolism was a big part of it too, I think, but I have to leave that up to the experts, because I couldn't tell you the appropriate herbs to use with Satanic ritual versus the herbs you would use in a Wiccan or Pagan ritual."

"This is going nowhere then, obviously the trick is to smoke weed and believe in fairies. Rob was getting frustrated by the looping of conversation, he was just a dreamy hippie not shaman. He kinda wished it was a trap now.

Vars- Vars seems sharper suddenly, or at least less dreamy."No, the secret is to keep all rituals practiced. These things are impossible to test, but we have tried. It seems everything that we have tried works in a vague way, besides the protective symbols. Those always seem to work, but they can't be done lazily. I can paint them on you. They seem to work on some spooks, and on the ground they prevent things from getting in." Mysterious Person 2- A small and slender young man appears from around the corner. His hair falls lankly around his shoulders, and he is dressed in a simple t-shirt. He carries something black in his right hand, held low, and appears more cautious than his companion. "For a price, we can transcribe it. I tested it outside and noticed it prevents at least some forms of undead from crossing boundaries, and when put on a person, it seems to protect them, at least against possession. We also have silver bullets for purchase." Vars- "Aw, you're going to sell the silver bullets? But those are like, rare! And I can do the symbols for free, helping our fellow man and all." Mysterious Person 2- "...If we help our fellow man all over the place then we won't have anything ourselves. We don't even have any guns."

((Jara, not sure if you should include the tattoo/symbol thingy considering this is before Nat went to the tower and came back with the knowledge. It sounds like he went through a lot to find them and Patti knowing kinda messes with the timeline. Just food for thought.)) "Who might you be? What kind of price are we talking here? It can't be money. Silver bullets? That's terribly convenient…Why do I feel like you're trying to sell us snake oil?"

((I actually planned this months before the tattoo thing happened but the plot on Madrona progresses super slowly. I wanted to make this their level up day. Inconvenient crossover timing! Well we'll do something else (see THE STREETS))) Hali- "Hali, the other person who lives in the house. They're genuine, but untested. I don't know if they'd work with the guns you have, or any guns really. They were made to be put on necklaces." Hali studies them, and shakes his head. "If you have any goods, live animals, good packaged food, fresh milk.. Those things are things we need." They hear shouting from outside suddenly. It sounds like Ashley.
