I was just thinking with all this fuss over butter, wouldn't 403 have access to ye olde form of butter 'drippings'? Any type of oil or fat can be used as butter. 403 could make margarine without needing milk or goats.

I'm not sure that they have any pioneer scientists are food chemists that would get them in that direction. They've definitely been using excess fat from the geese for various tasks (mostly frying), but that's not in the same ballpark as butter. And margarine is about as legitimate as a food as spray can cheese product.

Dr. Maneep Pamplemousse- Margarine was invented in 1869, not the same as cheese spray although maybe these days. Obviously it'd require some work but so does butter. Ultimately I think it's drippings or bus, butter ain't worth the work.

Ultimately I think it's drippings or bus, butter ain't worth the work. Margarine never tasted as good as butter, but my major complaint is that they used to sell it as being healthier than butter, which we now know to be horribly untrue. I would have to disagree though, if the only way to get butter was to churn it myself, I'd be elbowing people out of the way to get to the churn. Butter is near the top of my favorite foods. Marissa refuses (cheekily) to take me to the state fair for fear that I will attack and devour the butter sculptures (midwestern US state fairs are a weird thing).

Sorry about the delay in responding. We were out all day on Saturday and Sunday we went to the zoo with Zafer (our driver) and his little girls. Those girls are painfully cute and we taught them some animal noises and weird children's songs that they will drive Z nuts with for at least a few months. I haven't received permission yet to share any of their pictures, so all you get for now is this one.

Sorry I was a bit distracted the last couple of days, I have some images to get ready so it might be a little slow until then.

@brett= That's really fun, how old were his kids? Is your experience improving any? Totally missed this. His girls are 5 and 7. We had a ton of fun. In general, now that most of the unpleasantness of deliveries and establishing services is behind me, I think we're both very happy here. Maybe it's because we've had some opportunities to do some really fun travel lately (Srisailam Dam, Sri Lanka, to a lesser degree Singapore).

Not sure if I've mentioned this before, but Sylvia reminds me a lot of Julianne Nicholson, more in her badass persona from Law & Order: Criminal Intent than some of her other stuff.
