It looks like neither of them understood what he was trying to say. Well, it didn't matter.
Trevor - "I was told Chloë has recovered recently from an illness, though I think she has not fully recovered. I am surprised she is being made to attend the party. If it is her decision the matter is settled. However, I still care for her well-being."

Angela- "Chloë ..? Oh, that one. Yes. That's very kind of you. I'm sure she'll be well with such caring friends. She's the kind of maiden that makes all the men double their attempts at chivalry, falling over themselves to get her chair. Quite romantic. I'm certain she will be well. Do you care for her, or 'care for her' care for her?"

Why did she keep repeating herself?Trevor - "Her behavior has been worrying everyone. I think we all care for Chloë to have good health."

Angela- "I shall take that to mean you care for her in an amicable rather than amorous regard, and that is fine and noble. Health and human fragility, these worries are fortunately outside of my night to night, but I can understand completely. Who doesn't fear the icy hand of Death?"

Trevor - "Human fragility makes life what it is. That's what I think, but I don't wish for others to be sick."

Angela- "Such a poet. Well, in a few days, I am sure you will feel Chloë is perfectly well. When one is ... ill, there's a bit of an adjustment, learning how to walk again, as it were. She is in kind hands - including your own, as you see fit. Well, is there anything less sober you'd like to speak of? This is a night for intoxication!"

Trevor - "Do you mean drink? I don't drink so much." Words like "sober" and "intoxication" seemed to have that meaning.

Angela- "Well, libation if you must, but I was speaking of the heady air of youthful vitality and --"
Gaston-Louis- "He doesn't understand zis... All zis Glennish! And it is right, zis Glennish is too stupid! Do not use zis stupid words, 'livation', ''eady', 'vidality', whatever! Why not say in good words? Gibbereesh!"
Angela- "You see what I have to deal with, Trevor? *sigh*"

Trevor - ... Trevor gave Angela an understanding smile. Although Gaston-Louis wasn't entirely wrong (Trevor didn't know what libations were.) he didn't care for the sneering fellow enough to side with him.

Angela- "Perhaps we could speak more of the subtle beauty to which you alluded before? I'd love to hear what you have to say about it."

Trevor - "In Kohonese it has a name: 侘寂. It is somewhat hard to translate. えと。。 Ah. For example... A tree that is blossoming may look the most beautiful to you when it is in full bloom. For the Kohonese person when the petals are wilting it can be more beautiful."

Angela- "I'm afraid I do not understand, perhaps you could -"
Gaston-Louis- "It is a fool's errand. Wadzi-sabi is the experience with no words in language but Kohonese. I only understand through my keen focus on the Kohonese culture. You cannot."
Angela- "That's just foolish. If something can be understood by anyone in one language, it can be understood in another. It just requires--"
Gaston-Louis- "Cannot!"

There was another understanding smile for Angela.
Trevor - "I think it's more of a feeling. It's difficult to describe with words."

Angela- "So apparently you agree with Gaston-Louis. Why bring up something that can't be discussed when you are involved in a discussion?"

Trevor leaves the misunderstandings as they are. That was always much easier than trying to explain and derailing the conversation.
Trevor - "I apologize. I didn't realize how difficult it was to explain. I only meant to mention Kohonese beauty a little. Please tell me what you think is very beautiful? I ask you because I like to see how it compares."
