Ru- "Ah, yes. We are...pretty mundane in that right." Ru looks like he's nearly ready to rise at this point, and delicately puts both arms at the table. Those people were making him uncomfortable. Why were they so mean to the boy?

Dragomir- "Well, I appreciate your candor. Have a lovely evening. Hehe..."
That dude was totally checking out both of you. Horrible!

"Thank you, Mr. Dragomir." She stood and linked arms with Ru, pulling him away from the leering man."I need a breather ..."

Ru- Ru allowed his arm to be linked, and exhaled slowly. He was glad to be away from that table of jerks. He looked at her thoughtfully. "Where do you want to go next?"

Sarah- "No more lip from you, continental."
Tristan- "Yes Sarah."
The table was open.(ORIGINALLY...)Eli hesitated for a moment when considering his options. He remembered the bitchy looking woman from the atrium and she didn't seem any kinder. Still, Eli was curious and he would have to visit the table at some point. Plus, cute guy!
As he approached, Eli put on a polite smile and braced for whatever might happen. "Hello, I'm Eli. May I join you three?"

Eli- "Hi there, I'm Eli. I heard this table is where the movers and shakers are." Dragomir- "You were told right." Sarah- "Welcome. I'm Sarah, these are Dragomir and Tristan."
(ORIGINALLY...) Sarah- "You're welcome. Have a seat. I'm Sarah, these are Dragomir and Tristan."
Dragomir- "Hey kid."
Eli slid into a seat. "Pleasure to meet you all. How are you doing this evening?"

Eli- "Thanks, nice to meet you. How have you been enjoying yourselves so far?" Sarah- "Not bad."
Dragomir- "Can't complain."
Tristan- "..." The last fellow looked pensive. Eli- "It's a real interesting mix of people. I was surprised it wasn't a room of the usual art-world wan-- Eli- "--Uh, 'folks', haha. What do you all do?" (ORIGINALLY...)Tristan's silence did not escape Eli. Perhaps he would find some way to bring him into the conversation. "Excellent. Glad to hear it."
"So, what brings you here? What made you want to become patrons of the arts?"
That seemed to be an appropriate question to ask, considering the circumstances. Although, Eli was becoming increasingly suspicious that no one was actually interested in looking at his work. The job angle had seemed a better fit, but perhaps these wealthy people simply delighted in playing odd games.

Dragomir- "Wan-kers? Come on, kid, don't be shy." Sarah- "Everybody wanks, sometimes. But this is serious. Be serious, Tomasz." Dragomir- "I'm loaded as hell, don't have ta do a damn thing." Sarah- "Likewise all around."
Eli- Well that's a good thing to be! Yeah, I like being around these artsy types, but their conversations can be a bit brutal. Life's too short. What do you like to talk about?"
Dragomir- "You know it's good... Huh, what do we wanna talk about?"
Sarah narrowed her eyes suspiciously - she may have sensed a nerd cold frontin'...
Sarah- "What do you want to talk about?"
(ORIGINALLY...) Tomasz- "When you're loaded like I am, you gotta do something with all that lucre, or the excisemen will come up with a way to take it. What made you want to do... whatever it was you do?"
Sarah- "Artist, I think. How about that?"
Eli was caught off guard by the man's bluntness. After all the deception from the rest of the tables, it was a welcome change. "Very frank. A rare but good trait these days." He nodded to Sarah before continuing,"Sure, it works. I saw some paintings that impressed me and made me want to give it a shot. I enjoyed it and it ended up being a good way to deal with life. Majoring in art seemed like the right choice. I mean, when I become a professor, I'm basically going to get paid to lecture about topics I care about, work on my own projects, and help some others along the way. Sounds perfect to me."
"How about you? Tristan, you've been quiet. What are you passionate about?"

Eli- "Ahh..." He was intimidated but tried to not show it. Eli- "How about that money, huh? Maybe you can advise a kid on how to make the big bucks."
Dragomir- "Sorry, kid. Life's a game called big bank take little bank. Ain't no changin' where ya started, not these days."
Sarah- "Take a seat at the right hand of power. It's better than nothing." Eughhh classism, eh, at least they were honest about it. Eli- "Heh, I guess that's true. I didn't really expect this film thing to take off, but guess it was a hot ticket if I ended up here!"
(ORIGINALLY...)Tristan look alarmed to have attention brought to him. Dragomir- "Thanks."
Sarah- "'Deal with life'? Seems like for the last forty years or so everybody's been into this psychotherapy babble. What you do isn't supposed to sustain you. And what's so difficult that you need the sustenance? It's not like there's plagues or wars going around at the moment..."
Tristan- "... Um..." Sarah glared at him, but gave a small nod.Tristan- "...Um, I like... I like... I find it hard to think right now. Maybe I just like having fun, an easy life, yeah?"
Eli raised an eyebrow at Sarah. She was taking his response a little too seriously for his liking. Apparently, his initial impression of her was correct.
When he spoke next, his expression was indiscernible. Eli's voice was flat. "There is always suffering, even in times of peace. War and plagues, those are only the most obvious forms." He might have elaborated, had he not suspected she might go on a longer tirade. He didn't want to stoke the flames.
After pausing for a moment, Eli regarded Tristan curiously. "Your accent...Where are you from? What languages do you speak?"
He certainly wasn't Castaño; Eli was almost certain of that. But perhaps he spoke the language. Or Bribois, although Eli wasn't the most skilled in that.

Sarah smiled like, evilly. Sarah- "..." Dragomir- "Yeah, might be. When you're rich like us, ya gotta find ways to spend your loot, before the excisemen come after their pound. Might as well spend it on Dominic's fun."
Eli- "A lot more interesting than most of the public art people blow their money on, yikes. It's cool he's willing to invest in Glennish film, no one's been willing to do that for a good while." (ORIGINALLY...) Sarah- "Tssht."
Dragomir- "Naw, the kid's right. Life is tough and there's only one way out."
Tristan- "... Oh, I'm from Hodden. I speak Hoddish and I learn just little of Bribois and Grauische, and more from Glannish. Is it enough good?"
"Sobering thought, isn't it?" He turned back to Tristan."Oh, you're fine. I was simply curious. Vous parlez Bribois? Combien comprennez-vous? Ce n'est pas la mieux, mais je parle un peu aussi." (You speak Bribois? How much do you understand? It's not the best, but I speak a little as well.) Eli always felt a little awkward speaking Bribois, as if it was forced. Nevertheless, he had picked up some of the language in order to speak with some of the artists there.

Dragomir- "Yeah, I ain't that interested to talk about it, but his big sad was the collapse of Cudgel Films. Me, I mostly watch the pornos." Sarah- "That's a separate conversation though, isn't it? Pornography is pornography and film proper is something else."
Eli restrained a scandalized giggle at the topic change.
Eli- "Ahah, yeah, man, Cudgel was-- and all the big budget stuff's coming out of Antearctos now, and it's so..."
His train of thought was utterly derailed by childish excitement that someone said a naughty. (ORIGINALLY...) Sarah- "Chilling." She didn't seem chilled.
Tristan- "... Um, Je ne parle Bribois. Solement a petit?" (Um, I do not speak Bribois. Only of small.)
Sarah- "C'est encore pire que votre Glenais. Pathétique." (It is worse than your Glennish. Pathetic.)
Dragomir- "So. You're a funny kid. If I was you, I'd be drinking and eating and living it up. What gives?" Eli smiled softly at the boy. Was he...being abused? Eli wasn't quite sure, but he was wary of Sarah. "Well, you tried. I take it you haven't been to Bribeaux much?" Eli looked down at the glass he had been nursing for some time and downed the small remainder. As a servant walked past, he passed it off to them."Eh, I imagine most of us are still full. Marchese served a huge dinner right before the party. Although, as far as drinking, I don't want to have so much that I accidentally drive my car into a tree when I go home. Plus, there's no whiskey."

Tristan was turned away quite thoroughly by now. Dragomir and Sarah looked at Eli expectantly for a moment. Sarah- "Cat caught your tongue?"
Eli- "Oh-- oh sorry. So uh, this fellow here, Tristan? What's uh, how's your evening?"
Sarah suddenly glared at him, but gave a small nod. For his part, he looked uncomfortable to be the center of attention.
Tristan- "Um, it's hard to... Well, it's OK... I think?" (ORIGINALLY...) Tristan- "No, I go many times for job there, but in only short time, so...
Dragomir- "Now whiskey... We could get that for you easily. It smells like someone ate a pound of butter and pissed all over a rotten log, but it's something that really goes to the blood. Totally worth it." Ignoring the mention of driving safety, he beckoned a servant. "Oh, that makes sense. It's easier to pick up if you stay immersed in the culture. Do you intend to stay in Glenland long?" 'Ehhh, one glass won't hurt.'"Yeah, a lot of alcohol smells awful. But single malt whiskey is fantastic, goes down real smooth. Although blended is good, too. And that burning sensation is fantastic. So much better than all those fruity drinks."

Eli- "Ah, that's good. Yeah, these parties with everyone talking, I feel ya. Where you from?" He briefly glanced to Sarah on instinct. Weird, like, she's not his keeper obviously but... Tristan- "... Oh, I'm from Hodden. I speak Hoddish and I learn just little of Bribois and Grauische, and more from Glannish. Is it enough good?" Sarah leaned on her elbow and tapped a fingernail, looking away in ragey disinterest. Eli- "Better than my Hoddish, that's for sure! Ha ha. So uh, any questions for me?" He directed to the group. (ORIGINALLY...) Dragomir- "It's all about the poison. Thanks." The servant went away to get the drink.
Tristan- "I do not know..."
Sarah- "I tire of this talk of the continent. Glenland is enough."
"I...see. What brought you here, your job? What do you do?" His mind briefly wandered back to the thoughts of rape dens and ne'er do wells from earlier. 'No, no, no. You're not a detective, Eli. Stop. Stopstopstopstopstop.' "Ha. What's your poison, Dragomir? You seem like you'd be a damn good drinking buddy."

Tristan almost said something, but then read the situation and took the out. Sarah- "Ugh, anything except talk about the continent. I'm tired of it."
Dragomir- "I'm sure we can come up with something." Sarah- "Oh yes, you asked the staid romantics a good one."
Dragomir- "What's the worst thing you've ever done, kid?" (ORIGINALLY...) Dragomir- "Same as you, I expect, but more... filtered. I'll definitely get into some later. Hehe."
"More filtered? What, like with a splash of water?" The servant arrived with Eli's drink. It was chilled slightly, with whiskey stones. He paused a moment, taking in the aroma before downing the drink. A familiar burning sensation enveloped his mouth, traveling down his throat and into his belly.
He would have to watch himself, though. Eli's tolerance of alcohol was strong, but too many of those drinks and he'd end up having a soulful conversation with an empty chair, like last time. Not his brightest hour. His head already felt a little airy from the introduction to harder liquor."Smooth as butter... You should try drinking it straight. It ends up tasting better that way."
"Anyways, kind of random but...do you know any of these people? Besides Marchese, of course." Maybe he knew the guy who almost offered him a job. Could be useful to gain that connection. Maybe then he'd actually get the job.

Eli- "Hah! Oh that is a good one."
He rolled it over in his mind, can't sound too boring, but don't wanna make up an outrageous lie and get caught. Eli- "I don't think I have enough money to do anything too wild, but I kicked the Holy Wall when I was a kid and broke off a piece. ...and I don't really feel bad about it." (ORIGINALLY...) Dragomir- "Friends, family, and family of friends. What's to say?" Eli pondered asking the question he had in mind.
Ah, what the hell? His inhibitions were lowered from the alcohol. And really, what did he have to lose? "Really? What do you know...of those two?" He motioned towards Demetri and Francesca.
