It was a dark and stormy night.
Granite mountains and charcoal black trees towered about the valley like middle school bullies. The human-wrought things in the valley trembled in fear. Rain lashed the windows of the trailer park like cold whips, rattling the panes. Mud pooled about the cinderblocks and other makeshift foundations of the dirty little hovels.
One silver streamline moderne trailer shone in the gloom, the rain polishing its chrome siding, making it seem as an alien chariot sent to let the other trailers know how far they had yet to advance.
Inside, artificial warmth stifled the air, and a large reptile sat by the window, smiling slightly at nothing.
((Anyone can write the next part.))

The Kastanian winter was nothing to the winsome beast, just like the suffering of the innocent! Behind it in the warm light of the trailer, Ricky the Blade was tightening the straps on his victim - a handsome young man with pale skin, and a cool hairdo, slightly disheveled by the rough ministrations of the killer!!!

The young man trembled in anticipation, but his feelings were all amok. He couldn't just let himself free... Ricky turned to him and grabbed his hair brashly, and the boy cried out!
"BANANA! Honestly, why the hair?"
The safe word had been invoked, and the "Killer" had to let down the act.
"Damn it, Johnny. I barely touched you!," he said.
"Ricardo, just... I just need time! It's too much, too quick..."
(Honestly, Beks, the serial killer thing is SO played out. Let me save you from yourself.)

"The safe word huh, are you *sure* it was 'banana?' " Ricardo moved deftly, and took the blade from the table. "You want to know why they call me Ricky the Blade?"
"No! No! UH uh, Umbrella! Pineapple! Potato! Just--stop!" Johnny thrashed around in his restraints. It was just supposed to be a game! It wasn't fun at all!
"Wrong, wrong and wrong. Hahaha. Oh Johnny. Just wait until my friends come here. We're all going to have some fun. You're going to have some fun."
Ricky the blade suddenly threw the knife with surprising accuracy, and it landed with a metallic TWANG right between Johnny's thighs, just a hair's breadth from sensitive areas.
"Don't worry," Ricky said with a smile, "I have more knives."

Meanwhile as the winsome bloke recited a stream of especially vulgar expletives in reaction to a near neutering the fantastical lizard's eyes flashed dazzling heterochromatic lights. Indeed, her showy stare that was fixated on the horizon had just signaled for something... something BIG.
As Ricky happily juggled the knives while whistling sitcom themes and Johnny, who previously had been loyal to his role of "frightened bunny", was starting to get bored, the scene was interrupted by a rumbling unlike any thunder heard on earth.
From the mountains an enormous, scaled green hand reached down towards them, closer and closer until it had the entire trailer in its grasp. All that could be seen from the windows was the monster's plated skin.
"Um, dude. Please tell me that's one of the friends you were talking about... Rick?" Ricky din't know know the giant. However our dom was too frightened to even blink, let alone answer with a complete sentence.
(Made the lizard female because wanted some gender diversity. Her name is BingBing Bertiepertie, by the way.)

The trailer rumbled and shook, as if pushed by a bulldozer. Bingbing's cage slid off the table and cracked against the floor, spilling bedding and dead cricket pieces across mint green linoleum. The lizard skittered away and hid behind a couch.
Ricky, who had a healthy sense of self-preservation, was halfway to the door when he heard the shout: "Wait! Help me out!"
He hesitated. The trailer tilted like an amusement park ride as it was pulled toward the mountains.
"Untie me!" Johnny struggled against the restraints, but they'd been fastened by an expert. "For the love of ... banana!"
Aware that only seconds remained before he, Johnny, and the lizard were dragged into the extra-dimensional chasm that split the mountainside and spewed scaly green monster limbs, Ricky decided to ...

"Wait. Shoot! What was the real safeword, anyway? Choco Taco? Was it Choco Taco?! This isn't funny anymore, Rick. Don't leave me here!"
Ricky was unable to hear his buddy's pleas for salvation. His head shook with the calls from a multitude of inter-dimensional lizard monsters. They were desperately trying to attract potential mates with their magnificent singing.
Ricardo manages to pry the door open only just halfway. It wasn't enough space for a grown man to squeeze through, but Ms. Bertiepertie easily slid out to judge her eager suitors. That's when someone from outside grabs hold of the door, helping to push it open even further.
The large head of an especially burly man forces its way in, "Are you guys alright?!" he shouts. It was Samuel Redpike. Samuel was on standby outside by the window awaiting his cue to join the scene, but now wasn't the time for fun. "I'll get the door open. You just focus on getting John out of that." "Wasn't there supposed to be a fourth guy?" Asked Johnny. "He ran off as soon as he heard that first boom." "What a coward," says Ricky as he frees Johnny's right leg. Johnny kicks him in the shin.

Ricky turned back to Johnny with a grim expression, the small asian man had been a bitch to tie up. It'd almost seemed a shame to untie him. The caravan gave another lurch, they were in it for the long haul now. “That wasn't nice...There was never a safeword. You get what you pay for and you came out short, buddy.” The large burly man came over to help untie the man, limping slightly from his earlier efforts to enter. His dark hands a contrast against Johnny's pale skin as he unfastened the rest of the rope. Johnny's arm twitched at the sudden freedom, as the two other man were thrown to the other side as the caravan seemed to sway. The small man gave the two a languid smile as he finished freeing himself, unperturbed. “This is better than I'd ever planned, you can't pay for this kind of thing. At least not with money anyway...”His voice suddenly sounded odd as if it belonged to somebody else. It had a slight serpentine quality to it as if the man wasn't use to speaking with this mouth. (( I thought I'd diversify the group a little. )

Samuel recognized the voice of the Hidden Elder, shaking the frame of the slight eastern man. It wasn't just about the mating rites after all, was it? No, they'd found him, after all of his years of hiding, and they wanted their pound of flesh.
"Redpike," the Hidden Elder spake through Johnny, "Why the long face? Didn't you miss me?"
"Surely you won't make this easy on me. The powers I took for my own... Powers I squandered. I've nothing left to defend myself with. You can take what you like."
Ricardo was in a panic. "Wh-What's going on here? You know each other?"
"Hahahaha," the Hidden Elder said, "Don't you know who your friend is? Or where we are going?"
"Wh-what? No! I don't want no part of this!"
"It is too late. We are already there!"
The slatey mountains parted, the trees moved as scaly leviathans in the throes of conjugal bliss, and the heavens barked like a deranged cur. The trailers all leapt from the ground in one fantastic tumult, flew end over end, and landed in the Bay of Serpents.
As water began to flood the trailer, as the scaly beasts sped toward climax, the Hidden Elder said one last thing to the terrified men.
"I trust you'll come to see us at the Palace of the Inverted Heart?"
"Count on it," Samuel said, brushing a thick black braid out of his eyes and adjusting his glasses.
Johnny nodded, smiled, then collapsed as the Master's soul burst from his head, and fled into the colossal city that loomed over the bay - Grangerton, the Blight of Ethumia!

"Johnny...?" Rick bent down to check the pulse of his old pal, but paused as a thought occurred to him: Something freaky was nesting in John's head, had a little chat, and just flew outta his ear! "No way I'm touching him and getting infected," Rick said as he unconsciously wiped his hand on his jeans.
Now seemed like a good time to remember when he and Samuel first met. It was the day he picked up that ungrateful giant gecko that just ran off to frolic with horny toads- er- lizards. What exactly did they talk about that day? That sort of information is usually important with these kinds of things.

((Nice try turning this into Bonneville fanfic, Random. You're an insult to creative writing. Hell, any kind of writing... I trust people won't bite.))
Johnny moaned and began to choke on the water as the trailer started to sink. He woke up with a start. Samuel pulled him out of the water.
"Where are we?," he asked.
"We need to start swimming if we're going to live. Come quickly."
The big man helped the others get out of the door and swim a good distance away, before the sinking created an undertow to drag them down. As they bobbed in the water, they could see the city to one side of the bay, and the giant post-coital reptiles lighting cigarettes to the other.
Johnny got up the nerve to ask again, unsure how long he could keep up this effort, wanting answers to his curiosity before he died. "Where are we, man?!"
"Well," he said, "The Hidden Elder is a creature that can make powerful illusions and pulled us into its crappy steampunk daydream. That city is supposed to be Grangerton, from the Song Bonneville novel, but when we get there, it will be TOTALLY DIFFERENT. Let's get going before those lizards want a snack!"
That's when Ricky remembered what he'd first talked with Samuel about. It was...

...meaningless now. Yes, the city was completely different, indeed. The lizards awoke from their sleep, they WERE HUNGRY! Human skulls began bobbing up from the water, floating about, picked white and clean by vicious monsters. They skittered away, toward the imagined safety of the city. Oh how wrong they were. The smell of decay greeted them as they walked through the rusty, grimy streets. Piles of mangled bodies were stacked neatly like bricks. No one was in sight, well except for those dark shapes in the windows...

(You think that's scary, Bubb? Reminds me of Cannibal Domination - totally over the top. Real horror is personal.)
The men huddled close as they walked the rusty diamond plate streets. Hollow clangs resounded from their footsteps, as if the metal sheets covered a vast gulf of nothingness. Existence itself here seemed so tenuous... Any human at all was preferable company to the things that lurked all about them.
Johnny stumbled and nearly collapsed. Samuel caught the pale man in his dark powerful arms, cradled him intimately, then set him on his feet. The smaller man looked to the sides sheepishly and put his hands in his pockets. His embarrassed expression couldn't last long, as the singing of the water-bound leviathans bellowed through the streets once more - this time a song for a very different desire. They quickened their pace, knowing not where they were going.
They hustled past another alley of partially flattened bloodless human husks, and came to rest briefly on the lower-most level of a fire escape. Johnny let himself fall against the wet brick wall and slid to the grate below, exhausted. Samuel looked at him with concern.
Until suddenly he heard a splitting sound, like a box knife through a burlap sack. He turned slowly to face Ricky, who was standing in utter rigidity.
"Ricky, uh... Are you alright?"
As they watched, the man's lips began to part, and strange pale slightly translucent orb, like a featureless eyeball, began to push through them...

Samuel narrowed his eyes.
“Damn it, am I the only one who wasn't harbouring some third dimensional being?! Please, it's called safe sex people, when in doubt keep it out. My sister got with something, been spewing green crap for months now...”
The orb popped out of Ricky's mouth like a boiled egg, it buzzed merrily in the radiating lights of the city. For such an empty place it was well lit, as if waiting for some special guest to arrive. Shadows played across the piles of corpses, making it seem as if they were moving to an unknown rhythm... or even waving.
Ricky began hiccuping uncontrollably. His fingers twitched like he was playing an invisible piano. The small white globe began to float around the men's heads, blinking in and out like a light bulb.
Ricky was turning blue and grasping now towards the small white sphere.
“C-ca.. catch it.. p-please..” He managed to wheez out. Johnny and Samuel looked at each other and then...

Ricky stumbled forward in a fruitless attempt at recapturing the floaty escapee. He just knew that there would be trouble if they let it go. "Pulease. Cann youu ppluase", he begs with increasingly slurred speech.
As the white glob * meanders through the air towards Johnny he claps it between his palms, crushing it like a large grape. There was this disturbing little pop as it burst. Johnny cringes and lets it fall sadly to the ground.
Ricky tumbles clangingly onto the ground, "Oof! I feel lyke I'd justt been punnched in da rebs!" Sam tries to help him up, but it was as if the man's legs had turned to jelly. He wonders if the final hours of his life are going to be entirely spent lugging his friends around.
"Hey..." Johnny called out in a careful tone, "am I the only one here that sees a unifying trait with these dead people? I mean, er, there are big holes in them- holes like in an old, buggy apple."
Rick interrupts the discovery, groaning in agony. There were round lumps sliding around under his skin. Little black hooks tear through flesh and release at least a dozen more white blobs. Before John is able clap 'em all, five hatch and release gigantic nymphs. "Oh gawd!"
* Not a typo. :-p
