"Sorry. Thought I heard footsteps. Dogs? Coyotes? Prowlers? I dunno. Couldn't pinpoint it." He moved slowly, his boots making a light tap-scuff noise, but nothing so loud as to attract undue attention. He was moving towards the back of the house.[/i] "I'ma go roun' back. Holler if ya spot somethin'."

"They could be after our supplies, I suppose. What did you hear? I don't see anything." The light turned back off...and then clicked back on. Something continued to move outside. "If it is a zombie, we are all going to look pretty silly in the morning." She reminds them, shaking her head. "This whole medical crisis thing has gotten us all on edge, how do you know it can even get inside if we don't open the door?" She leaves the shotgun leveled at the doorway.

At the front door, a quiet thunk was heard. Then nothing. "Who's there?" She called out, almost instinctually.

At the sound of the front door, Wolf hurried back to the entry hall. As he arrived, he saw Anya and Molly coming down the stairs.
He shrugged it off and quickly took a position by the front door, off to one side. He clutched his knife near his chest. He motioned a suggestion for Molly and Anya to take up a position on the other side of the doors.
Sister Sylvia seemed ready, with the shotgun leveled at the front door.[/i]

"I'm not opening that door." She tells them, and waits, holding it steady. There is only silence on the other end, a long pause like they have never imagined before. Things are so quiet. They may realize, the thing must have either gone away or is standing very still. "I don't see..oh..." She says softly, after looking through the peephole again. "Look at that." She seems both in awe, and perhaps a little bit afraid as she gazes down at it. "Maybe it's a mangy bear." She offers in a breath, though her tone doesn't seem to be convinced.

" What?" Wolf came over to look through the peephole himself.[/i]

As he looked beyond, he noted a dark figure in the shadow of the doorway. It stood stock still, and did not make a sound, approximately the size of a medium-sized bear, a far as they could tell. The lighted parts of the body seemed... wet.
He could not make out its details in this lighting, and it's position close to the door and therefore below the eye-line of the peephole did not help him come to any further decisions about its nature.

Wolf thought hard for a few seconds. He tried to think of where he could get a better view from and all I he could come up with was going out the back and climbing the side stairs up to the front. That would take quite a while.
He decided to see if this thing had a flinch reflex. With his eye still at the peephole, he kicked the base of the door quite hard.[/i]

So, it was only a bear? Now, bears were just dandy, especially with a wall between her and the animal. Molly leaned on her cane, relaxed, as Wolf kicked the door. She wore a pair of silk boxers and a Seahawks t-shirt. The outfit was fantastically cozy slumberware, but it really didn't flatter her figure. Oh, well! Who was she trying to impress, anyway?[/i]

From beyond, the thing did not seem to flinch when he kicked it, but it did slowly move the forepart of its body backwards, and then re-positioned itself. There was something a little off about its movements, if anyone was familiar with beasts.

Despite his nickname, Wolf didn't know shit about wild animals.[/i] "Um... shouldn't a bear have a startle reflex? Zombie bear?"

Anya stood near the door with her weapon ready, the waiting was painful. What were they gonna do? Surely they could all take it on? Hang on..."Did the injured guy mention something about a big ass zombie?"

Breg joined them in an oversized t-shirt and a pair of jeans. He seemed a little disoriented but awake, and carried an ax in one hand. "...Do you see anything?" He assumed they had tried peeping already, and had seen whatever it was. "Welp, there's some big bear thing out there. Mr. Wolf doesn't think it's a bear though. I'm not sure we have to worry if it doesn't try to get through this door." The silence became an audible scratching sound. It was slow and steady, but the door rattled.

At the sound of scratching, Wolf practically jumped out of his skin.[/i] "Gorrammit! That thing ain't goin' nowhere 'til it digs its way through the door and eats every last one of us. I'm goin' out there." He marched towards the back door, grabbing a MagLite off the common room table as he went.[/i]

Anya made to follow Wolf out, she had a split second moment of indecision before she committed to the deed. "Good idea, take it down from behind. Why wait for the wolf to blow your house down? We're no little piggies! Look after Caleb, Molly!"
