All of the rooms upstairs were shared by small groups of people, stocked with salvage from nearby buildings, trade, and so on.
Jordan shared this room with Brian and Danielle. They ran strings around, separating the sleeping areas with suspended tarps or sheets. On one hand, the decoration of three lively personalities made it look colorful and homey in here, and the light from the window was brighter than much of the downstairs.
On the other hand, the space was way too small for three people to comfortably share. It was unsurprising that most people spent the bare minimum of time in their rooms.

Jordan came to his room, sat on his inflatable mattress, and pulled out an old book from under the pillow. He flipped through the pages with rapt interest, trying to find a particular entry. Jordan- "Now how many people does it need to involve? Ah... Let's see, one, two... oh yes, we've got it. Ahaha.." He smiled to himself, stood, and moved behind a curtain formed by a tarp hanging from the ceiling. He had a special project to work on...

Kyle knocked at the door. He still wasn't used to seeing people living up to the sexy side of his belief system - some kind of leftover puritan prudishness messing with his young mind. But if this was what he thought it was, he had to know. What was holding him back? He went in. Kyle- "Hey, is anyone-- Brian? Jord--?" No one was around. He went to Jordan's part of the room, pulling back the curtain slowly. He stepped in, and walked around his bed, until he beheld a startling sight.
There was a magic circle on the floor, six feet in diameter, extending partway under the bed. It was so intricate that it must have taken hours to prepare, densely packed with symbols, leaving only a sort of V-shaped space for a man to kneel in. At first, it looked like a work of pure madness, but then he realized it was merely more advanced than the magic he had been working on. Jordan must have found books that he hadn't shared, but it also seemed like he was innovating - using his own personally designed arrays of symbols, to achieve a specific effect.
He knew what Jordan's scheme was, and knew that Alex was the most important element...

Later that evening.... Jordan- "In nomine Dei nostri Satanas Luciferi excelsi! In nomine Dei nostri Satanas Luciferi excelsi!" The wizard's incantations were totally rocking out. He reached for his pants zipper to do the final sacrament. Then... Something in the fabric of the universe broke. His candles all toppled at once, spilling wax onto his chalk circle, ruining everything. For a moment his eyes bugged out, then an instant later let loose tears. He slumped.
He rubbed his eyes, shook his head, and stood up. Jordan- "It could've been so beautiful."
