"..We're going to get trapped if we stay on the roof. The ghosts are dangerous but better than just staying here. Come on...I can barely breathe!" He coughs and rubs his increasingly painful face in the meantime.

Lasse waved the flare to get their attention and Breanne and Ozzie came forward through the uncanny gossamer. Breanne blinked. Breanne- "I don't see them anymore! I don't--"
Lasse- "Let's GO! I'm sorry!" She shook the shock out of her head, nodded, and they followed as you guys began to leave. ((Any final thoughts on the rooftop of doom?))

"Hurry up, let's get going." He could say the roof gave him chills, and that was for sure, but now wasn't the time to wonder about the minions of hell or whatever was going on here. He looked back. The place gave him chills, but now wasn't the time. They had to keep going. They had to go on. "Downstairs. Quickly. Where is your enclave? Can you get back if I take you to the street?" They seemed in good shape, but he didn't want to leave them to die, even if they were pressed for time and he did feel like he had to go find Alex sooner rather than later.

After they got Breanne to stop staring at invisible menaces, they ran back to the stairwell. At the door, this time Ashley and Patti could clearly see what Lasse had been talking about. There was more of that gossamer, gently swaying on an unfelt breeze, like a jellyfish or a curtain in their way. Passing through this stuff didn't seem to cause special harm, so they all just went through it to enter the stairs.
On getting into the stairwell, their bodies felt heavier, like after an elevator reaches the bottom floor, but air was filling their lungs again. Breanne- "Ozzie and Lasse *huff* have been out on their own, thought I'd *huff* invite them home to 403 Westlake." They had to run through the hall again to get to the stairs down to the 6th floor, then down that hall to the stairs that went the rest of the way to the first. They heard ghost groans and smelled ectoplasm in the shifting shadows.

"Take two of my flares." He offers them to the others, and keeps his last one close at hand in case of ghosts. "Eyes downcast. Come on. We need to be quick about this." He grunts, and keeps up a jog as he continues onwards.

They accepted the road flares. Patti noticed something funny about what Breanne said but didn't say anything at the moment, lost in the danger. As they ran through the sixth floor to the last set of stairs, the shadows grew more menacing still.Breanne and Ozzie were paralyzed. Lasse yelped for help from the 403 heroes.

"Keep your eyes down!" He swung wildly at them, a disadvantage to the state of dark ghosts was the risk of looking into their eyes, and so he looked farther down than he may have liked. Ashley was likely not as afraid of them as he should be, or perhaps too tired to be, or both. He had two jobs to do now, better do them well.

This groans turned to the hiss of flames. Breanne- "Oh god, thank you so much!" She still had a tear in her eye from the ghost-misery feeling. Patti rallied the troops and you guys tore down the stairwell and up out of that piece.
In the streets again, you had a call to make. It seemed like a good idea to escort them back to the 403 personally, even though it would delay you a bit longer. You were probably not going to finish this mission by nightfall anyway, but at least you'd find out what the hell those kids had gotten up to. It just seemed harsh to cut these beleaguered survivors loose without easing their shock.

Ashley will not escort them all the way to 403, he has a mission to do, and dammit, he's going to do it, but he will take them a little ways and give them directions on how to return. After this long, his face would have started turning red, and his lack of eyebrows would make him look either especially silly, or especially Red Skull-With-Hair-like. At the very least he'd take them out of the main danger, and make sure they have torches and/or flares. He'd give them his lead pipe to make sure they make it safely. "I pray for your safe return." He says simply, and heads off in the direction of El Corizon to try to snag the kids before any more shenanigans come up. He doesn't want to linger in the dark but he'd rather not have to stay at El Corizon if they don't have to. Especially since the purpose of this mission was based on his lack of trust to begin with (Apparently well-founded) Off he goes, tallyhooooee

((Separate player and character knowledge, Jara. By no means has a mistrust of El Corazon been shown well-founded at this point. Either way, the distraction was tailored to make sure Patti & Ashley didn't interrupt the big reveal of what Jordan was up to, which was happening as dusk set in. Now that we're done with that scene, I'm OK with Ashley and Patti getting there soon-ish, but as of yet, the only thing y'all know is that the party didn't get back early and didn't tell anyone how long they'd be gone.
Nonetheless, I could see a sense of urgency setting in since they were delayed, so it's still appropriate for him to go tearing off, but what does he even know about them? Keep it in mind. As my brother seems to be very busy with his vacation, I decide some rudimentary actions for))
Patti saw Ashley's sense of urgency and agreed to run off with him, but only after they got the good people inside the barricade. After that, they started to jog. Looked like conserving energy wasn't going to be so easy on this mission... Ozzie- "Thanks for saving our lives! Good luck!" Ashley and Patti found it pretty easy to dodge zombies, but running up and downstairs had taken a lot out of them. They were forced to slow to a walk for a while, but resolved to keep their pace brisk.
((Another post describing your trip & I'll intro the dudes to El Corazon.))
Five minutes after Breanne and the rest got inside, Seth and Joe came out on bicycles. Joe- "You really ought to have more faith the diplomatic skills of your people, Mr. President."
Seth- "Who knows if they'll get jumped by crazy cops, or worse yet, run out of bullets. Plus, it's a party. I'm always down. Like a circus clown, even. Yea-yea."

((The well-founded was my comment. Ashley didn't suspect they were up to no good but he's suspicious and the others should have been back by now according to him. And though he doubts there are demons about, it's harder to navigate in the dark. He didn't talk to El Corizon peeps much, but got an odd vibe off them. I prevented him from overhearing part of their conversation in the past to avoid him throwing a fit about them before you guys put up the character rules. ))

((Indeed, anyhow, proceed with the descriptive post. Patti & Ashley will not run into Seth & Joe until the last minute, as they've gone slightly different routes.))

Ashley would have to walk, if not quickly, for a while, and then picks up again, picking off whatever zombies he had to pick off along the way. He kept an eye on the sun and for whatever reason, started to become anxious while watching it slowly drop, lower and lower. For the most part he deferred to Patti's good judgement, but he considered himself responsible for the safety of Alex and the younger chaps to some degree, and as such it was his responsibility to carry out this mission. And so he would. The worst thing that could happen was bringing a few more energy bars to the party...right? Then they could be escorted back, hopefully soon. The shadows stretched onwards, and alleys grew dark. They pressed on.

Joe and Seth dismounted their bikes by El Corazon. The place looked peaceful. They could hear a sound of music on the night, and a few random zombies flailed in the car maze. Joe readied his submachinegun. Joe- "Do we go in the front?"
Seth- "Well yeah, but geez, put that thing away! Unless they're using evil mind-control music or something, I don't hear a war going on." Joe nodded and let the sling on the SMG hang low, letting his jacket fall to partially conceal it. Just then, Patti and Ashley ran up.

Ashley saw the figure standing there, and for a moment did not recognize him out of context. He pauses and then reverses his momentum with a backwards swing of his weight. "...SIR?!" He barks, and stands stock still suddenly, as if his momentum of action was stopped for a moment. "...Clemens sir.." Ashley's face was reddish even in the waning light and his eyebrows were pretty well burned off. He looked.. not great.
