Dr. Bebe had Anna, Stevie, Monty and Wil running around doing errands, while Becky kept a close eye on Kaya, who was in restraints, crying softly. Ivan and Richie were laid out looking almost dead, and Patti and Joe were nearby, beaten badly but conscious. Ben was hobbling around for very short distance chores.

Patti had propped herself up against a wall and had a half-empty gallon jug of water by her side.
Her wounds looked fairly bad on the surface with lots of bloody bandages. Still, the exhaustion was the biggest problem, having run on adrenaline for the better part of an hour.
She took a long swig from the jug and handed it off to Joe. She laid her head back against the wall and closed her eyes.[/i]

Joe- "..." Joe took it and stared into space. ((In this scene, I'm sure Bebe and others will need to give input at some point, and I'm goin' out today, so just ask questions & leave "response here" in ur posts. Jara- Bebe will want Ash to run chores unless he runs right upstairs, in which case, she'll ask him to send somebody down who knows WTF is going on.))

"...Ivan...Oh...Patti you are here too..." He was relieved that she wasn't among the so far not accounted for yet, and it seemed like a weight was lifted from his shoulders. He looked around in the mess for her hand, and took it, though didn't say more besides her heroics. He wondered if he should be angry at her for running off recklessly, but decided that he shouldn't. She had done good work when she left, he was sure, whatever the cost. Now wasn't the time to be angry at sick people. He touched his cross reflexively, and wondered what on earth had happened. It must have been a miracle, but from what? And where? "How badly are you hurt? You ran off in a shower of heroics too fast for me." He asks Patti, though he had a feeling poor Ivan had done the same, and to much humbler results. And so had he. Ashley could feel bruises starting to form just about everywhere. He had probably torn more than a handful of muscles in all of this. He'd be stiff for days. He turns to Dr. Bebe: "I found Tyrone, and Kaito badly hurt on the patio, I decided not to move them because they are stable but have many broken bones, but I think they need your immediate attention." Dr. Bebe- "Well, I hope nobody moves them unless absolutely necessary. I intend to move everything I need upstairs and have a triage clinic that isn't half-immersed in ectoplasm. First I'll need more help, and then I'll need these guys stable enough for the trip..."

Patti squeezed his hand back lightly and smiled feebly."Not sure we got much done. We thought Seth had been snatched up by a haunter... hoped he had escaped downstairs, so we went looking for him. We never found him." "I almost got these guys killed trying to secure the clinic. Didn't even succeed at that." "Do we even know how that happened?"

"I haven't seen him. I don't know where anyone is. Johnson was also taken. I could not reach him on the roof, but I saw no sign that he was harmed." He sighs, and seems jut a little more relaxed sitting here with Patti. "I lost the common room. Those things were overwhelming, and all the ghosts. I think our strike finally came... The mummy put honest effort into eliminating us. But why did it stop? I have no answers, I think we will learn more as they find people again." Joe- "Maybe it's all over. Maybe whatever made the dead rise in the first place just stopped working..."

"We need to... standard operating procedure... maybe drills... take the offensive?... I dunno... find Seth... find Micah..." Her head rolled and bounced a little harder against the wall than she would have liked it to."Ouch. I'm gonna rest, need to rest. So much to do." She leaned her head back gingerly and closed her eyes.[/i] "Need to rest."

"Sleep well Patti, you earned it. I'll find Seth and Micah for you if I can. I searched a long time looking for you, but didn't find either...Maybe they've found the others already." He patted her shoulder where she wasn't hurt, he hoped. "You were perfect." He seemed to think now was a good time to leave her alone and maybe find Seth and Micah. They weren't on the other floors, at least not that he knew, and he needed to find the missing and dead on top of that.

Dr. Bebe- "...Leaving already? If you're going upstairs, I need someone that knows everything and can make things happen, I need them down here immediately. And I want someone to see if we can borrow doctors from the MRC. Thanks."

"I'll try to find people who know, or even a few if that's possible, and send them to you, and I'll visit if I can...I'm...I can do it." He turns to leave and hobble back upstairs to go talk to the people on the 6th floor, and find whomever knows the most.

Patti picked up the small case and looked around nervously. She made a little terrified child face for a second then collected herself.
She moved to the chair that had been set up for Kaito. She considered the small amplifier for a second. She set the case down and produced a shiny new mandolin from within.
She pulled the cable from the amp and connected it to the instrument. She sat down and tested the strings once. She tightened one of them just a hair and then settled into a more comfortable position.
She pushed the amp a bit away from her, to minimize feedback. She forced a smile.[/i] "Hey, guys. Um, yeah. Sorry, I haven't done this since, like, '81 or something." "I'll try to keep it light and hopefully folks can enjoy themselves. If not, feel free to send me hatemail tomorrow and I will never darken the stage again. Thanks." She tapped her foot against an imaginary drum pedal to set a tempo, then went straight into her first song.[/i] [Try to imagine all songs played on a mandolin, with reasonably nice female vocals. Any particularly skillful guitar riffs are simplified fairly extensively, but still fully recognizable][Fast Forward to Track at about 2:21... That's the one and the only one]Attachments:

Ben didn't recognise the people who accompanied Bebe to the party, so when two of them headed towards the booze, he decided he could use a refill, and got up on his crutches to join them. Ben- "Hi! I'm Ben Hanson. Are you new here?" As he'd had to make a bit of haste he didn't quite have the time to balance a crutch against his thigh and offer his hand, but he figured that people on crutches were probably excused in that department. Zala- "Um, heeey Ben. :/ I'm Zala and this is Kanika. We're from down the street. Heard you got strong drink. Anything you recommend?"
Ben had to admit now, this felt a little uncomfortable. He'd never gone to school with black kids as a child, rarely dealt with black people professionally, and tended to feel a little awkward around them when talking to them in public - just didn't know if there was some way he was supposed to act that he never learned about. Patti and others like her were very skilled at making white people feel comfortable around them, and these youths were less so. It was a case of the unspoken segregation of the old economy keeping people apart racially. Nothing insurmountable here & now, but definitely awkward.

Ben chalked up most of the awkwardness to the fact that he was forcing the interaction rather than letting it happen naturally. Not much to do about that, because if he'd just remained seated, then the chances to talk to newcomers would've been slim at best. Ben- "Oh, sorry, I stay away from the hard stuff. But I think the bottles are supposed have what it says on the labels. So if you know your stuff..." In his head, Ben did some quick algebra to figure out what Zala had just said. If "from down the street" meant that they were from Jalil's place, and "heard you got strong drink" meant that they were there for the party, then he guessed that they weren't newcomers after all. But best to make sure! Ben- "So you're only here for the party then?"
