Seth used his bony shoulder to shove the bearded hipster back. Corpse- "Glllllggggg."
Seth- "Damn it, can't stop to kill these freaks. We gotta get to the stairwell!" A tall, very thin zombie in expensive clothes lurched in front of Joe. It was obvious it had been quite successful in human eating endeavors, as its face was matted with gore, and a scrap of a finger was caught in the folds of its dress. Corpse- "KUUUUUURRrrrrrRRrr!" A zombie impaled with sharp pieces of glass and wood jumped surprisingly fast in front of Seth, who had to hold the mop handle in front of him to keep the creature back. Corpse- "Kkkk! NaaannaaannnannnnbuuuuUUuu!!"
Seth- "Fuuuck off!" Seth exerted all his skinny strength to shove the zombie back with the mop handle, and tumbled out into the area in front of the stairwell.

Joe- "I know... I ... Aikido, haha." Joe let himself fall behind a moment, slip and slide zombies finally getting a grip on his legs, the rain of blood began to die away, a weird calm amid the thrashing movement as that noise faded. Moans began to rise. Joe considered escaping death the other day... Thought he was done for then and here he was again. A zombie clutched his hand in its cannibal efforts, and it felt like a desperate hypothermic swimmer clinging to him, pulling him into drowning and peace.Joe- "Becky taught me a little, she's a black belt I guess." He flexed his muscles, rooted his chi, and effortlessly stepped out of the mob like it was a mud puddle. He wended his way through the sloppy crowd, following Seth into the hall. Inside the meat locker, Dr. Bebe had taped over Kaya's mouth, leaving a few airholes, but muffling the madness. She looked at Wil then they looked at Becky. Dr. Bebe- "How long can you do that?"
Becky- "Until I run out of blood."
Dr. Bebe- "I'll get some tape."

Patti, then Ivan, then Richie came out into the 1st floor hallway. It was nearly black, but for the pink light of flares. Joe and Monty were fighting zombies from both directions while witless Daniel was looking lost in between. Joe- "We left some people in the clinic *uff* should be safe, in meat locker... *ugh*"

Patti joined the fracas with the zombies. She swung her hammer like she read too many Thor comics as a child (she did).
One of the zombies bounced off the wall and hooked the claw of her hammer with its face as it fell back to the ground.
Another came behind it, lunging at Patti with both arms. She let loose of the hammer and pushed the attacker violently in the chest. It clawed deep grooves in her forearms, but it wasn't able to hold on, tipping over backwards.
She wrestled her hammer free, then leaped on top of the fallen zombie, dashing its brains out against the floor.
As she stood back up, she had a direct line of sight to the outside door behind the clinic's "kitchen". Was it open or was it closed?

The door to the clinic was ajar, but nothing was visible in there just yet. A zombie spilled out of it, drawn by the noise, and staggered into a Joe attack. He broke its neck with the rifle butt, like a creepy blood soaked soldier on a killing spree. Ivan- "Oh man! I uh, Oh... Help?"
Richie- "No! All this ..." Monty heard them before he saw them. Ivan had gotten tangled up, then pulled bodily into a mob of zombies. Richie was trying to pull him out and a zombie started chewing on his arm. Daniel had disappeared into a dark pile on the floor, mind shutting down. Monty- "COME ON!!!" Monty leapt into the zombies like it was a mosh pit, punching faces, shoving, kicking, accidentally stomping on Ivan, but beating back the press. Richie and Ivan just fell in place. Monty tried to regain his footing and his leg was seized by the undead. They dragged him further into the hall and closed in on him, blotting out all the light he could see.
Patti and Joe couldn't hear the collapse on the rear flank as they had pressed on into the clinic...

Joe and Patti came into a world of three inch deep ectoplasmic sludge, trashed furnishings, and over a dozen undead. Joe charged out to get them and slipped, falling on his face and skidding through the ghost-spawned faux-blood. He accidentally knocked over a zombie, which fell on top of him.
The room was only lit by Patti's flare and a flickering gas lamp spattered in red. Joe's flare disappeared into the muck.

Patti scrabbled over to where Joe lay on the floor. She grabbed the zombie that was on top of him by the rotting scalp and jerked its head back. She swung her hammer sideways, snapping the thing's head to the side. It fell limply back on top of Joe.
Three, no five, zombies closed in on her. She lead the guys into this. Where were Monty and Daniel?! She'd give her left arm for a loaded gun right now.
She struck one of the zombies, but her blow landed low, on its neck. Its head lolled to the side, but it kept clawing at her.
A second zombie got a hold of her shirt from behind. She dropped to her knees, taking it off balance, then shot her body back with a kick of her legs. The zombie hit the wall behind them and fell to the side.
Patti spun around on her knee in the slick sludge of the floor, looking like some amateur break-dancer. Her hammer struck it in the top of its head, dropping it permanently.
She looked back towards where Joe lay prone. The dead zombie on his back seemed to have thrown the others off his scent, but now they were all closing in on her.
Her arm was getting pretty tired and she was struggling to get the hammer up above her shoulder. Her back was to the wall and four zombies where closing in on her.
She ducked low, bracing her feet against the base of the wall and used all of the power in her legs to pounce forward into the closest two.
The three went down in a jumble of limbs and Patti could feel fresh, hot blood running down her back. She throttled one of her attackers, bouncing its head off the ground four or five times before it stopped moving.
Pain shot through her shoulder, as something quite powerful jerked backwards on her arm. Her hammer fell from her hand.
She jabbed around blindly behind her with the flare, hoping she might blind whatever was there enough that she could break free from it.

Joe staggered to his feet, pulling himself up on a toppled gurney. Immediately, two zombies reached for him, all three slipped and were in the sludge again. Joe- "...Becky..."

Patti somehow managed to thrash herself free of the grappling horde. She skittered-slid across the floor to where Joe struggled on the floor with two zombies.
She dropped on top of one of them and jerked its head back violently. The neck snapped but the arms still grasped and the jaws still gnashed.
She grabbed the creature's left arm and wrenched it free of Joe. She leveraged with the arm to pry the thing off of her fallen comrade, then she shoved it away from them.
Her foot slid in the muck and she fell to all fours. As she tried to get back upright, rending claws dug into her shoulders and pulled her onto the ground and onto her back.
She kicked and tried to fight free, but the iron grasp was unbreakable. She slid freely across the frictionless sludge of the floor.
A sneering, half chewed face lunged at her. She managed to get her hands in front and grabbed it by the throat. Hands clawed at her legs and she tried in vain to kick them loose. The slavering, bloody maw hovered a foot in front of her face, teeth chomping and snapping.Patti made a long cast and the leader made a pleasant splash where it entered the fast-moving stream.
The water broke around the line, highlighting its location as the lure moved quickly through the current. The end of the pole dipped abruptly as she quickly got a bite.
The salmon jumped and broke the surface of the water. Patti smiled wide. She snapped the pole to set the hook, when she caught a glimpse of movement in her peripheral vision.
She turned her head and spotted a not-too-small female grizzly about two dozen meters up on the far shore.
She chose not to reel in the fish, hoping the bear would just take it off the line and let her go. The bear hopped on its front legs and gave a loud roar.
Even from this distance, Patti could see the ragged, rotten flesh of the jowls and smell the charnel-house breath.
She staggered back in surprise, tripping on a rock and landing hard on her tailbone. In the span of a breath, the bear-corpse was on top of her, dripping rot and death on her face.
Patti fought the urge to let it take her, fought the urge to give up. She grabbed a rock and struck at the mockery of the natural order. "NOOO!!! FUCKING DIE ALREADY!!!" The zombie pinning Patti took a blow to its temple from the heavy door-stop in her hand. Patti rolled with it, straddling it and bashing its head into a greasy smear on the floor."FUCKING DIE!!!" Two more grabbed her from behind, but she tore free of their claws and burst to her feet. She spun around, bashing the first one solidly in its face, caving it in and sending it back onto the floor.
A third got a hold of her arm, but she kicked its legs out from under it with a mule kick. The weight pulled Patti down to one knee.
She struck out at the attacker in front of her, shattering its knee and dropping it to the ground, where she bashed its head in with a single blow from the door-stop.
The zombie that had her arm dug its claws in and tried to pull her to its mouth. Patti didn't fight it and thrust herself towards it, over-balancing it and sending it onto its back.
She smashed it repeatedly in the face with her weight before springing to her feet and spinning about to face down several more that had entered the room. "Come get some."

They declined the offer. Every zombie in the room slowly collapsed into an unmoving, truly corpse-like state. Joe- "..."

Patti stood, blinking momentarily, unable to fully comprehend the situation. The adrenaline drained from her body in the span of three heartbeats and she fell to the ground.
She dragged herself over to where Joe was crumpled on the floor."You gonna live?" Joe- "...Uh..."
"MONTY!! DANIEL!! SEEEETH!! IS ANYONE ELSE DOWN HERE??!! BEBE!! WE NEED HELP!!" Her arm gave out and she fell onto Joe's chest. She rolled over onto her back, now using his abdomen like a pillow."ANY one!" Patti laid motionless, half in, half out of the stream. The re-dead bear-thing was only a few feet away, but the smell was overwhelming. She choked and gagged on the stench.
The cold water moved quickly over her skin, wicking away tension, fear, and strength. Her will to hold on drained away like the blood from her wounds."Ash?"

Patti lost it for a few moments, drifting in darkness. The room suddenly became a lot brighter - a fire burning in a large brazier, mirrors suspended above. Dr. Bebe- "This is most unexpected. But it looks like I'm back in business..." Dr. Bebe stood by the fire. The blood looked different, no longer red, and diminished in size by about half. Ghost smell filled the air, but diffuse, as if diluted. The doctor took stock of the ruined environment, called out to Wil, and got to business... A little while later, Dr. Bebe had Anna, Stevie, Monty and Wil running around doing errands, while Becky kept a close eye on Kaya, who was in restraints, crying softly. Ivan and Richie were laid out looking almost dead, and Patti and Joe were nearby, beaten badly but conscious. Ben was hobbling around for very short distance chores.Patti had propped herself up against a wall and had a half-empty gallon jug of water by her side.
Her wounds looked fairly bad on the surface with lots of bloody bandages. Still, the exhaustion was the biggest problem, having run on adrenaline for the better part of an hour.
She took a long swig from the jug and handed it off to Joe. She laid her head back against the wall and closed her eyes. Joe- "..." Joe took it and stared into space.
"...Ivan...Oh...Patti you are here too..." He was relieved that she wasn't among the so far not accounted for yet, and it seemed like a weight was lifted from his shoulders. He looked around in the mess for her hand, and took it, though didn't say more besides her heroics. He wondered if he should be angry at her for running off recklessly, but decided that he shouldn't. She had done good work when she left, he was sure, whatever the cost. Now wasn't the time to be angry at sick people. He touched his cross reflexively, and wondered what on earth had happened. It must have been a miracle, but from what? And where? "How badly are you hurt? You ran off in a shower of heroics too fast for me." He asks Patti, though he had a feeling poor Ivan had done the same, and to much humbler results. And so had he. Ashley could feel bruises starting to form just about everywhere. He had probably torn more than a handful of muscles in all of this. He'd be stiff for days. He turns to Dr. Bebe: "I found Tyrone, and Kaito badly hurt on the patio, I decided not to move them because they are stable but have many broken bones, but I think they need your immediate attention." Dr. Bebe- "Well, I hope nobody moves them unless absolutely necessary. I intend to move everything I need upstairs and have a triage clinic that isn't half-immersed in ectoplasm. First I'll need more help, and then I'll need these guys stable enough for the trip..." Patti squeezed his hand back lightly and smiled feebly."Not sure we got much done. We thought Seth had been snatched up by a haunter... hoped he had escaped downstairs, so we went looking for him. We never found him." "I almost got these guys killed trying to secure the clinic. Didn't even succeed at that." "Do we even know how that happened?" "I haven't seen him. I don't know where anyone is. Johnson was also taken. I could not reach him on the roof, but I saw no sign that he was harmed." He sighs, and seems jut a little more relaxed sitting here with Patti. "I lost the common room. Those things were overwhelming, and all the ghosts. I think our strike finally came... The mummy put honest effort into eliminating us. But why did it stop? I have no answers, I think we will learn more as they find people again." Joe- "Maybe it's all over. Maybe whatever made the dead rise in the first place just stopped working..."
"We need to... standard operating procedure... maybe drills... take the offensive?... I dunno... find Seth... find Micah..." Her head rolled and bounced a little harder against the wall than she would have liked it to."Ouch. I'm gonna rest, need to rest. So much to do." She leaned her head back gingerly and closed her eyes."Need to rest.""Sleep well Patti, you earned it. I'll find Seth and Micah for you if I can. I searched a long time looking for you, but didn't find either...Maybe they've found the others already." He patted her shoulder where she wasn't hurt, he hoped. "You were perfect." He seemed to think now was a good time to leave her alone and maybe find Seth and Micah. They weren't on the other floors, at least not that he knew, and he needed to find the missing and dead on top of that. Dr. Bebe- "...Leaving already? If you're going upstairs, I need someone that knows everything and can make things happen, I need them down here immediately. And I want someone to see if we can borrow doctors from the MRC. Thanks."
"I'll try to find people who know, or even a few if that's possible, and send them to you, and I'll visit if I can...I'm...I can do it." He turns to leave and hobble back upstairs to go talk to the people on the 6th floor, and find whomever knows the most. Dr. Bebe- "That guy is alright. "

During the siege, this area filled with zombies. However, they later collapsed, and a while after that, a "just in case" crew swept through the floor, damaging all of their heads.
Bebe moved as many injured as possible into upstairs apartments, as much necessary equipment as possible upstairs, and the clinic was left untended for the rest of the night.
