"I'm sorry about that. I'm more accustomed to random outbursts and such but I thought I'd forget the whole 'madness' that was the hospital. I do hope there was nothing going on with that noise, though." "I was thinking about asking for the bed, the chair, and some basic first aid stuff we didn't get the first time. I also want to ask them how they have some power and what they're doing for water, food, and other necessities. I wonder if they've gotten word from outside resources. It might help with the recon thing Seth tries push you to do." He smiled, nodding. "You are a charmer."

Thierry- "Imagine - you go to work one day, then discover that these are the people you must spend the rest of your life with. Haha. Well, I got on with my coworkers better than that. But maybe I'm just easy-going.
The chair for Marie, yes? I wonder how the bed would work on stairs? The lack of lifts has been one of the most unpleasant aspects of the situation. I'm not sure that they do have any power. A little dim and grim in here.
((OOC- I forgot to describe things, but yes, aside from windows, there's not much light in here.))
If Lee was right and they have been helping outsiders, I wonder... Are the injured survivors that come to them invited to stay here, or turned out as soon as they're healthy? And then, yes, those people may have communicated some useful information...
Charming. It was my only real job qualification before. Now I can add 'head bashing' to my CV as well."

Dr. Victor sighed, leaning on Thierry a little. He glanced around, nodding a little. "I can see why Seth put so much effort into you. It must suck, though, with all that responsibility, especially with everyone in the world basically out for themselves. Do you think I am bad for being selfish?"

Thierry- "Mm, I think people are only out for themselves at the end of the line. Things aren't that desperate yet. Well, depends on the person, I suppose... It's like the way I am with roma-"
Franco- "I can't believe you have the nerve to come back. Welcome, my friend."

Dr. Victor rose suddenly. He smiled and nodded. "Good to see you all. I'll be brief because our window of time is short. We have two GSWs now thanks to what is being colloquially called a 'dark ghost.' It's physical contact with a living person stopped the heart. No other contact was required. Also, expiration like this was instantaneous, no other signs of physical trauma or systems failed except the heart. And he wasn't inanimate for long." Franco- "Well I hope you'll give us more than a few minutes with a story like that." Dr. Green had a hint of makeup on his collar, Franco had a hint of a bruise and cut on his cheek, and Dr. O'Connor's shirt collar was askew. They were all pretty disoriented, coming out of some claustrophobic drama and into the light of an outsider's world, but they were adjusting fast.Turning his neck he let out a little sigh. "Dr. Melange is fine and quite capable in her own right. Her expertise is a great asset. I know it was an earlier meeting than we expected or initiated, but because of the wounded and Ms. Oshiro, I have need of more supplies. I know we don't have much to offer in return at this moment in time. However, the area is pretty clear, though there is no need to lessen the guards. We have had some success in gathering supplies; hell, there was even a birthday party." Green- "Was the party before or after the ghost?"
"Aside from that, I did want to look at a wheelchair, for Ms. Oshiro, and possibly a stretcher if it was available. And some actual immobilizers for the GSW, we had an upper shoulder clipped." Green- "I'll have to take you next door. We have more prostheses near the emergency ward."
"I know that things are difficult, especially anywhere. Is there anything you can tell me of what you've been working towards? Have you had contact with others?" Franco- "We've been taking survivors in need of care, and sending them out when they're better. Mostly we just charge whatever food they've got and information. We've been able to find out a bit about these 'ghosts', but it still seems preposterous to me.
Also we're getting a rough idea of population density. There's a lot of survivors in the city. In the area, maybe a few hundred per square mile, mostly busted into small communities of five to twenty. Of course, that means maybe 90% of the population is dead. It's pretty disturbing stuff."
"Is there any chance of rebuilding power here? Do you know of any people who could help repair a generator or do you need supplies to help?" Green- "The building generator is noisy and inefficient. When we get better power, the best way to use it is on an as-needed basis. We don't have the expertise to make anything just yet, anyhow. Didn't you guys have some engineers?"
"Have you ventured out into the surrounding areas at all? Have you taken in people from other areas? What news did they share?" O'Connor- "I don't think any of our patients have come from outside the neighborhood."

Thierry sat up and came forward in his chair a bit. Thierry- "Perhaps for efficiency we can streamline this conversation. By the way, I'm Thierry, pleased to meet you all."
Franco- "Huh."
Thierry- "Indeed. I suggest you lay out any questions you have for us, we answer them, we ask anything we'd like of you, there's a little bit of follow-up, and then we go on to getting that equipment, if you would be so gracious. So... What would you like to know of us?"
Franco- "Sure, why not? Dr. O'Connor, would you like to go first?"
O'Connor- "Whether we believe they're the spirits of the dead or not, we need to know about the ghosts. Sometimes contact causes a mysterious form of nerve condition, and sometimes it kills. We don't know why. What do you know?"
Green- "Melange had some big ideas about understanding the condition of the afflicted. I know it's only been a little while, but have you guys made any progress?"
Franco- "What's your role here today, Thierry? What's your professional relationship to Dr. Victor?"
Thierry- "That's a fair question. I don't mean to come off as intimidating. I was merely escorting the man here and back, and he had requested I try to manage time for us, if it felt necessary. Again, apologies if I have seemed short."
Franco- "That's good. Thank you. How about you, Victor?"

Dr. Victor spoke a little slower but his arms crossed over his chest, vision catching the abnormalities. Everyone reacts to the end of the world differently, I suppose. Wish I knew who to thank for socking Franco; it was probably that after he stole Feingold's pen."Franco, I don't know how you can't believe these ghosts, but you'd better be aware of it. I think they can be killed by fire... alcohol based or maybe gasoline." "The party was before, right after we got back. Apparently there was some need to celebrate not dying, either that or they just raided a liquor store for shits and giggles. Sorry for that, Dr. O'Connor." "I had thoughts after hearing about what the others were saying about the event. I'm not sure if it was the light of day, as that is a possibility, or if it is something like the spirit finding peace, but it changed. And at that change is when it developed the infarction touch. Dr. Melange is studying the ectoplasm- as if that might one day become real science- which apparently is inert when the thing is destroyed." "I believe we have some better ways of trading, but you are all part of the front line here. The stress cannot be good for any of you. If you need anything, do not hesitate to come by 403, please." "I just want to return tonight to see another day of whatever may come. I've been... having a little bit of a regression. It seems when you put your life off until you have time... at the end of the world, you have to face it. Just make sure you don't lose grip on those rent-a-cops, Franco. That one guy has an attitude to make me look humble."

O'Connor- "Amazing. These things really exist, and leave a physical substance behind!"
Franco- "Who ever heard of setting fire to a ghost? I'll only call them ghosts for lack of a better term. It's ridiculous to think that an immortal soul would have a physical substance, or that it would have such petty concerns as sticking around this planet to kill people."
O'Connor- "I'll confess, I've been hesitant to speak openly about it, but we certainly have ghosts in this building. I think the reason we haven't been attacked is because we have candles present. Tell me, do they have an odor? .... I knew it!"
Franco- "..."
O'Connor- "They're real and they're here. What now?"
Green- "Fire repels and destroys them... Maybe that's all we need to know."
Thierry- "That's not all. As Dr. Victor began to say, there are two types of ghosts. Both can be destroyed the same way, but the darker ones... Not only can they kill with a touch, they can paralyze with eye contact. If you see a ghost that is wisping with darkness, do not look at its face.
If you can't get to a fire, they can be slowed down by impaling them with a long thin object. As nearly as we can determine, the object needs to stay inside, and be passing all the way through, or they just slip away. Bullets and bludgeons, for example, pass through them with no harm.
Well... I don't have any questions for you, but do want to say again that I am pleased to meet you. Dr. victor, did you have anything else you wanted to discuss with them?"

Dr. Victor shrugged slowly. "Yes, please be careful, Franco, please. There is an odor, Dr. O'Connor. But, for my sake, make sure there is ventilation and plenty of carbon dioxide to put out any erroneous flames. Franco, sometimes, you only see what your eyes want to see. How can ghosts be what you want them to be? Ghosts are just another problem now, take it or leave it, and they must be dealt with." "We need to get these things and soon. Please, I can't really stay longer than this. I've only got four minutes... maybe a little more. With you all, time goes by so slowly, but I promise, you're doing good things here. Send qualified people our way and we'll work together to get this city back to some sense of normalcy in this place. Franco, I... I'm down on my knees here." Dr. Victor lowered his head. His final words were more somber, and he pivoted to face Thierry for some measure of will. "Mike, seriously, take care in here. It sounds like there are more problems in here than outside. Franco, all that you've ever learned, try to forget, will ya? The rules don't work like they used to."

Franco- "I don't need your damned poetry Victor. I admit it's a real problem and we'll deal with it."
Green- "Interesting take on the situation, my man. Well, let's stop holding you up then? Doesn't seem to me like we'll need all that hardware anyway, so let me just take you to it." Dr. Franco looks uncomfortable with it, but is maybe tired of being humiliated today and lets you guys skate. People start to sort themselves out. Any last words to anyone in particular? Dr. Green and maybe Lee are going to escort you to the equipment...

Dr. Victor let himself be escorted with Dr. Green and Lee, Thierry falling behind. "Hey, Mike. Who slugged Franco?" Green- "Wow, right to the point, aren't you? Well, I think it's probably for the best I stay quiet. It's not like I even know most of what's really going on.
I admit, I feel bad for the women though. Ladies always feel like they gotta be helpful, or if something's going wrong, wonder if it's their fault. Makes 'em more vulnerable to... bastards. Maybe I'm a bastard too."
He hastily grabbed the equipment, loading it onto the stretcher. "Thierry, even if we can't get this up the lift, we can still keep it inside the clinic, right?" Thierry- "Well, that is a bit of a test. We broke the front doors. They cannot be opened without some physical or technical labor. If the front door of Zaitun was open, we could wheel it in there. As is, we need to get it through the barricade, into the garage, and then up a flight of stairs to the first floor."
Green- "Victor, you've seen this model, right? Probably never had to use stairs with it, but it's possible. Just put ((the lime in the coconut, whatever)) and you can take it about two stairs at a time. It's a pain in the ass, but there you go..."

Dr. Victor nodded, smiling. He shook Dr. Green's hand. "Mike, you're no bastard. I'd not even bestow the title of asshole on you. You're just a good guy with a big face. Hey, now, no worries on that." Green- "Hey, my face is perfectly proportional to my... Hey, I'll see you again soon, buddy. "
Lee, a pleasure as always, make sure you have someone with you to watch your back. And save the fuel in your lighter, all right?" Lee- "It ain't exactly Lord of the Flies in there, man. But I'll take any advice I can get! See ya later."
With a sigh and a narrowed eye, he glanced once more at the building. His words were mostly for Thierry on the return trip. "You remember how they asked me to stay the first time? I don't think I could have survived this long if I did. Egos, Thierry, are more dangerous than bullets and can leave you more vulnerable than a ghost's gaze. And mine would probably have killed them all."

Thierry- "The human mind is a vast and complicated thing, and there are some minds I will never understand. But maybe you can help me with that. "
