All right, here's my character: Benjamin Hanson (28 years old, white/Caucasian, 5'8", 177 lbs, short brown hair, brown eyes) Computer programmer (makes a decent salary) Single (but wants a hot Asian girlfriend) 'Weeaboo' (collects manga and anime, takes Kendo classes and knows some Japanese) Unattractive (hot Asian girlfriends are out of his league) Nearsighted (wears glasses) Poor guy. How will he survive? Answer: He could meet a computer ghost and together they could try to take over Seattle! Because everything can be hacked, right?

The only things which can be hacked are computers and corpses... or is it horseshoes and hand grenades? Yay! The cult grows!

Okay, I think I need to rekajigger my character concept.
A - Essentially playing myself would be boring.
B - The idea that a recently discharged veteran could NOT have combat experience strains credulity more than zombies.
C - I knew I had a C, but now I don't remember it.
Back to the drawing board!

The longer I have to look at Hayden, the more I question whether I am really ready to play such a love-struck, socially responsible and positive person. To be one with the snark is more of my personal favorite. I really don't mean to chomp on the bit here; I know there is a lot of prep time and scenario work and storyline-ing going on. I just have half a dozen other character ideas floating through my snow-addled miasma of conscious thought all wielding katars, tonfas and bo sticks to vie to be the last self-wrought persona / idiom standing. (Ice queen, Asshole with a heart of gold, Dramaturgist+Emomancer, Socially Awkward Book Jockey etc etc) I have what's commonly known as "Alt-itis." I run games regularly for my friends and I haven't gotten to play the multitudes of characters more than NPCs. Hell, I even thought about making a "Gaymer" style character with a Jester-esque attitude towards life. 'Time to get my save on!' Basically, I'm being devoured by a nishruu. But I am simultaneously patient and hyper-ecstatic. Please excuse the 'squee.'

Thanks for the advice people , we shall see. I was thinking of my character, perhaps. Micah, 23, Australian Tourist hopelessly lost looking for convention. Socially awkward and weird, tries to hide this with an inappropriate and black sense of humour. A bit of a indie-nerd, thinks he is cooler than he is. Is insanely and dangerously accident prone and yet keeps miraculously surviving... He is an opportunist who is not 'afraid' to stand back and allow others to do all the high-risk and dangerous stuff. He could be brave or a coward but is yet had any opportunity to find out. As for job, a sous-chef ( fingers are covered in band-aids permanently hahaha). Yes I realise I probably seem have too much time on my hands, I'm a procrastinator what can I say. I should be writing a 2,000 word assignment, not thinking up a character.

Gillsing - delightful! Characters with character are tremendous. Indea - This crowd is beginning to seem like they will be zombie kibble. On the plus side, zombies are ineffectual combatants. On the minus, that's not all people are going to meet. Haha. I like the idea of an Australian tourist a lot. Maybe he was sous chef on a cruise ship. A lot of those visit Seattle. Josh and Brett - Thinking of a different concept? The group could use someone semi-athletic, apparently. Josh, I thought your first idea was good, but you gotta doowutchyalike. OK... this is more like a gaming group in size now. I'll see what Kelly thinks about getting this going. It still feels kind of insane with his current workload on the comic... haha. Insane is what we do.

I think I have my character. I will post the details later, when I have more time. Suffice it to say, I thought I should go farther outside my own experience for this adventure. Prepare to be shocked.

Crap on a crutch. I was typing this on my iPad and I opened another tab in the browser and lost everything I had already typed.
This character was inspired by a friend of Marissa's who I also happen to like.
Patience "Patti" Greene, 52 y/o African American woman from Texas. She was an Army brat growing up and has remained a bit restless as an adult, moving cities every five to ten years.
She never went to college, but has extensive work experience that has helped her climb all the way up to the title of Chief of Staff at Amazon. Basically she is the admin in charge of scheduling and managing day to day operations in the corporate office. It earns her a decent salary and stock options, which allows her to live in the somewhat swanky Archstone Belltown apartmens not far from Westlake Mall and the Seattle Center.
In the last ten years, she has converted to fitness. She employs a personal trainer and recently finished her first marathon. She looks very young for her age, maybe 37 at a high estimate.
She never settled down with anyone long term, largely due to her career oriented outlook and her semi nomadic lifestyle.
She loves skeet shooting and even won a few state tournaments when she was in high school.
She loves gospel music (though she's not particularly religious), frozen yogurt, and big dogs (though she can't have one, living in a small apartment). She hates the water (can't swim) and men who think they are superior to women.

New Character. Hayden will be a backup? Dr. Charles Victor, MD 37 year old male, exceedingly vain, and rather attractive. Lots of history. Has a personal penchant for chatting. Can often carry a conversation with himself. Cold fish, cool, collected, and has his roots in a truly "80s goth" culture. "Who cares about your life anyways? Its in your death that you really matter. Some of my favorite people came to me dead. 27 year old hobo with a piece of iron pipe shoved half way through his colon, hemorrhaging buckets of fecal matter and blood. Yup, I saved him. He shits in a bag, and will for the rest of his life, but his death was one for the record books." "You know what I hate? House. I hate that douche bag. He gets his patients through referrals and dumb immigrants who swim oceans to be blessed by his hypocritical hand. I hate all tv doctors.... Dougie Howser, Dr. Quinn, Quimby, even M.A.S.H. and don't get me started on ER. But, seriously, House makes my blood boil. You want to save a life, House? Come down here where the real action is. I lost my watch in some guys rib cage the other night. Damned fine Rolex, too. And because the stupid surgeon cut his artery, its now 'evidence.' That'd make a good episode."

@chris Your forgetting my character's knives and skill as a chef. He is going to julienne strip those zombie bastards to death. I was thinking to make him a little less fodder-like, that he practices parkour in his spare time.

Indea - A clumsy traceur? Zeut alors! He'd be dead with no zombies required! I kid! We're not the kind of peeps to kill characters. If all the players wanted to play clumsy wussies, the type of play would revolve around running from menace rather than fighting it. But do pick a side - is he clumsy or not? Or situationally clumsy, like good manual dexterity but prone to absent-minded mess-ups?
Brett - Depicting characters in underprivileged groups can be a minefield for privilege-holders like us. It might go fine, or you might find yourself in an awkward situation. But ur a smart dude, and I bet you know what you're doing. "Chief of Staff" ... If Amazon actually has that job title, the person who holds it can do way better than The Archstone. I actually looked at going for a small apartment there once. Also, Amazon in Seattle is run like multiple businesses sharing a campus, in that it has a bunch of teams competing for employees from the same pool and handling very different parts of the company. Let's say "Team Leader in Vendor Account Regionalization" or some such. And yeah, the Archstone is very convenient to work there, so why not?
Gillsing - Benjamin Hanson Indea - Micah Brett - Patience "Patti" Greene Suyoi - Dr. Charles Victor, MD Kilnarak - Teen Barista / Occultist
That about it so far? Let's get into it then, soon. Get images you'd like to use as a source (thx Suyoi) and I'll do little avatars, and then we'll do backstory-type stuff.
