Lashonda- "Excuse my language, but I'm pretty fuckin' tired right now. I'm willing to just sleep on some couch cushions tonight, and worry about the furniture later. What do you ladies think?"
Peg- "Then everyone else will get first dibs and we'll be stick with IKEA futons. I think it'd be a good idea to get while the getting's good, but maybe that's just me."

"I'm gonna have to agree with Peg. It doesn't need to be a Sleep Number bed, but I'm not sleeping on a futon. I heard the doctor bragging on his bedroom. I'm half tempted to go take whatever he's got and replace it with a wet dog bed when he's not looking." "Seriously, though we should see what we can find. If you're wiped out, I can understand. It's been a fucked up 48 hours. Maybe you can stay here and arrange whatever we can bring back."

Lashonda- "Haha! You're funny, Patti. Man that doctor... He's from your group right? Such a bitch, damn. I hope I don't gotta get a checkup from Dr. House on crack, god. Anyway, maybe if y'all can drag stuff to the door I can arrange it. I'm tired but I'm not heartless."
Peg- "I think we should get some of those foam rolls if we can find them, they'll make any bed better, and bet most people are just trying to get the best mattresses. Patti, I'll admit-- I did the sorting and I think I know where the best stuff is..." Peg led Patti to the supply area on the 6th, and helped her carry anything back to the room.

"Peg wasn't kidding!" Patti deposited one end of the mattress just inside the door. "Not just one, but three Sleep Number beds! When we get a little power in the next couple of days we can pump these suckers up and it'll be like sleeping in heaven. We'll be back down with the rest in a minute." Patti actually giggled with her glee. She smiled for the first time all day.

Lashonda- Damn girl! Haha, nice score. This place is already nicer than my old apartment, except for the whole lack of electricity and surrounded by monsters thing. By the way, I don't know what I'm gonna do with my hair... This one one wig is not going to last me all my days, I'm sure, and I can't find shit in the supplies. There's like, no black ladies in this building I guess. If you don't mind my asking, you use a straightening iron? Also, you wouldn't happen to have any hair products with you, by some random, wonderful coincidence would you?"

"I didn't think to bring anything. I'll probably just let it go. It seems like too much work under the circumstance. It's not like there're any of these guys I'm worried about impressing. Woof." Was she gossiping? She never gossiped. She hated gossip. Woof.

Lashonda- "Hahaha. Yeah, I'm probably just gonna keep it tight, start wearing bandanas again... You got high standards, I'd think a lot of ladies would be impressed with the muscle on display out there."
Peg- "I don't wanna bother you guys, still thinking about my loved ones..."
Lashonda- "I guess I'm lucky to not be very close to anyone. Not that I'd want anything bad to happen to my family, I can trust them to take care of themselves and not lose too much sleep."
Peg- "She's... my partner's disabled. She's in a wheelchair."
Lashonda- "Aww. Well, where is she?"
Peg- "South Everett."
Lashonda- " I bet it's safer in the suburbs. Terrorist style, they hit the cities big time, but how could they hit everywhere at once?"
Peg- "Well how could they raise the fucking dead? *she laughed bitterly* That's alright, I'm gonna try to not think about it... or at least say anything about it."

"The closest thing I have to a good friend in Seattle is up in Everett too. I've found if I keep myself busy worrying about myself and those in my immediate vicinity, I don't think about him as often." Patti looked at the mattress they had brought in a minute ago, the other two having already been relocated to different bedrooms. Now she was thinking about Colin and that wasn't going to do her any favors. "What else could we get in here? A couch, maybe some chairs. I think we can save the seating arrangements for tomorrow, but if you think there's anything high demand that we should get tonight, maybe we should go looking for it now. Maybe a battery operated CD player?" (OOC - Patti will be down for just a little more hoarding (er, scavenging) and then agree to call it a night.)

Lashonda- "Hey good idea on the stereo, they say we can use a bike to charge shit but I don't wanna have to burn a thousand calories to listen to one track." Peg and Lashonda help Patti relocate items until they're too exhausted.

After balancing their new "boom box" on a small coffee table they had purloined, Patti stretched. A previous conversation rolled back into her mind and she laughed. "You know that Alex kid is pretty fine but, seriously, if there was one thing I was looking forward to after the Apocalypse, it was the lack of preachers. G'night, ladies." Patti left the shotgun with whichever of the two seemed interested, having previously confirmed that they knew how to use it safely, and went into her new bedroom. She didn't feel up to making the bed tonight, so she just tossed the flat sheet over the mattress and called it good. She located the heirloom quilt she had found in one of the rooms upstairs. It wasn't an antique or anything, but you could tell the quilter made it for someone they loved. Patti lay awake for quite some time, thinking about her father, (the son of said preacher she had complained about), her brothers, and Colin, her personal trainer. At least her brothers lived in the same town as dad and she could hope they were together and safe. Colin was a city-slicker, the child of a doctor and a successful restaurateur. He wouldn't know how to survive a dangerous situation unless it involved a rowing machine or a squat rack.

Patti didn't dream. It was probably a blessing. She got up at the first sign of cooing pigeons and went in to tuba throw the bathroom. She used her finger to brush her teeth. Maybe they could loot a drug store or something in the near future and get some toothbrushes. She brushed out her hair, which was already beginning to frizz out. She knew heat-styling wasn't good for her hair, but she had found that adopting a "white" hairstyle made relations in the workplace much smoother. She filled a bucket with water, found some soap and began cleaning as thoroughly as she could. Looking at her hair, she pondered shaving it off. Cleaning this much hair could be a real water waste and dirty hair was just nasty. She eventually settled on rinsing it with the leftover bath water, drying it really well, and brushing it out thoroughly. It wasn't good, but it was better than nothing. Walking through the living room, she heard Lashonda snoring and Peg making morning sounds. She went into her room and found herself a clean change of clothes. Camouflage pants, brown base layer shirt, and a many-pocketed shirt that matched the pants. She got some fresh socks and put on her hiking boots. She put on her paddle holster, tucked the gun in, and then pulled the outer shirt over the pistol grip. The bulge was obvious, but maybe people would be less uncomfortable with it if it was covered. She did a little stretching, but didn't bother doing any exercises, because she fully expected she'd be doing some relatively heavy labor at some point today. On her way out of the apartment, she waved good morning to Peg.

Patti will undoubtedly wake up stupid early the day after the party, and with Abdul and Derek's help, secure the guns in the Community Center. Describe what you like and hang out on the 6th floor thread!

Patti woke early and did the quietest workout she could manage, so as not to disturb her roommates. It was mostly core work, two minute plank rotations, some pushups, and not much else. She wanted to get back on track, but figured she'd wait until she could sit down with Alex, Ashley, and anyone else that was interested. It was still wildly early, even after she cleaned up and deodorized. She was making a mental list of things to speak with others about as she went through her morning. When she came out of her room, she saw Chantelle had just gotten up and was starting up fire to warm breakfast. "Morning. If you see Abdul, let him know I'll be back in a few minutes. Thanks."

Peg and Lashonda slept late, hangovers in waiting like the boulder of Damocles. Or whatever that thing was.
