Harriet--
You knelt to pick up the pieces, which were sadly scattered all over the place like Cinderella's lentils. The box they came in was discarded to the side, a crowd of kittens in a basket was on the cover. They seemed to just be standard puzzle pieces with cardboard backing, but the picture on top had been painted over with a rough black acrylic, a design scrawled over the top in a gold paint that still smelled acrid. You'd have to pick them up quick as the rain was still hammering down.
((Would you like to roll 2d10+ reason to use your CSI skills?))
Gerald & Ryan--
You heard the detectives and Dr. Bassett go upstairs, their voices muted by the distance and the splattering sleet hitting the windows. Mills grew quiet, watching the space they'd gone. Eventually there was a loud thump of a door closing, and he jolted at the sound, eyes gone wide.

Harriet- xSoEf7fJ + 2 = I eye the design on the top, and wonder what it will look like if it had been put together. I try not to tamper with the evidence as I analyze the pieces and document where they were thrown. ·

In response I kept my calm. Gerald - "Hey. We're good, alright?"

Harriet -- You quickly got the pieces into the bag, only a few of them got soggy on the wet ground, even then, they still held their shape. The design in gold seemed to be a symbol, and you could certainly assume it might be the same symbol you were looking up before. On closer examination, you saw smears and marks on the puzzle box that seemed to be the same paint as on the pieces. The girl was probably painting the pieces herself.
Once you had all the pieces in the bag, a strange feeling came over you. What would happen if you put them together? You certainly couldn't dump them all out on the floor and piece them together right now, but their current sogginess would quickly degrade the paint, looking at the smears that were already collecting on the plastic.

I attempt to dry them by careful blotting and use paper towel to prevent them from becoming soggier. I then will lay them out, spaced apart to see the pattern, which I will carefully re-draw.
I look about for the others. Someone should probably catch that girl. Harriet- "Hey, someone threw the murder-symbol in puzzle pieces here." Could this really have any connection? Or was it all to mislead them?

Sure enough, your hunch was right as you arranged the pieces. Funny, it seemed very easy to figure out what went where, like the pieces wanted to be rejoined. Even the solid black pieces were a cinch.
Mills was soon watching you closely.
Timothy- " ס̨̙̬̻͔͈͇͍̈́̓̆ב̸ת̥ͬ̂͋̓̎̈́̋א̠̜̱͙͇͈͊̒̌͌ͫ?"
What the hell did he just say?
Gerald, Ryan, Harriet -- your ears are numb, like the room abruptly changed air pressure.

I hold a hand to my ear for a moment. It doesn't seem to help. I don't know what the cause is, either. Gerald - "Does anyone else feel that?"

Ryan-- "What was that?" I wiggle my jaw to try and equalize the pressure.

Butcher, Colt, and Dr. Bassett arrived downstairs.
Detective Butcher- "Hey, what's..."
Timothy- "It's a gift from ̡̻̽҉ שיריל҉̻̿͢."
Detective Butcher- "Ooohkay..." The air pressure kept changing, popping the front door open a crack.

I took in the scene as quick as I could. I imagined the door popping as being from the force of the crowd outside.
Colt- "Alright. Whatever's going on here, let's move it there. I want everyone out of here and on the road in less than two minutes."
I pointed at people as I gave orders. "Officer, stay on your prisoner, get him moving. Forensics, bring it if you have to, but hustle. Counselor, doc, do what you like. Let's go!"

We got moving. I wondered what happened to Officer Milton? It'd be good if she had my back.

Harriet- I pack up the pieces again, putting them in the bag with the paper towels to ensure they do not become ruined.
I also look at Timothy; this must be related to the crime. My suspicions are confirmed but why here and now? And who threw the item? I follow the others at a quick clip, holding my breath as I walk. I don't know what words he said but they didn't sound friendly.

The exodus began, people filtering outside. Thankfully with the door open wider, it relieved some of the pressure indoors. Or maybe it was just that Mills was leaving... horrorboys.proboards.com/post/89516/thread((Feel free to stay behind for any further investigation or actions.))

Harriet- I wander behind them all, looking for the woman who threw the puzzle at the door. It's strange that this, of anything else, seemed to catch his interest more than revisiting the scene of the crime.
If nothing else, it did put me at a loss concerning the humanity of others (or lack thereof)
