A VetPrep Druid stands beside you and hollowly intones another question. How willst thou answere? "How much would would a woodchuck chuck...?"

A woodchuck would chuck all the wood it could chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood.

OK, I was yakkin with Kelly about the future of RP on this site, and got some brain juices flowing, and think it's going to be time soon for a MASSIVE PARADIGM SHIFT!!! Bla ZOW! I don't want to bore you with the ins and outs of my reasoning (started typing them out & they sucked), but here's the notion: SUBPAR is good and righteous, but RPing it kinda "real time" with the day in day out stuff is sometimes tedious and difficult. I've been wanting to shift things into a different mode and my initial thought was to have that be more self-directed by the players, BUT I think you guys really prefer direct GMing, a storyteller giving you something direct to do. At the pace and mode in which we play, that's hard to keep a reasonable feeling. Witness the Tukwila mummy hunt. That should never have gotten boring, but for some it did, and more than anything else I attribute that to it being played over the course of weeks instead of days. So here's my new model for SUBPAR: All continuous day to day stuff is OVER! Maybe we do that for a little longer, but I'd like to nix it. All future RP with the game will be one-off missions. Think of everything we've done so far as setting up the world - a really long plot exposition. Now that we know what the world looks like, we can RP in discreet modules with less bother with continuity. Anyone who wants to GM something OR anyone who wants something GMed can organize it. Bored, want a certain type of adventure for your guy, or a torment you want to bestow on others? Set a time, find out who is available then, and either GM or ask someone else to do so for you - it's OK to ask me. Meanwhile, I will try - at least once a month (after November) to run a tight one-off adventure of my own creation, preferably condensed into an IRC session or few days of posting, that covers an event from beginning to end. I already have something very fun in mind for December. ... ... ... And THEE EEEEEEEEEEnnnnn.... WTF ARE WE THINKING A NEW GAME?!!!!!!Kelly tried being a player and not GMing for a bit, but it seems he's less into that than he would have expected, so mayhap he shall GM again (time and emotional energies willing), but he'd like that to be something fresh if he does, so we were considering a KINGFISHERVERSE-BASED CAMPAIGN!!!!!1!! With SUBPAR in episodic occasional play mode, another campaign could be begun, probably to be handled in a similar fashion, in which the PCs are all newbie vampires in a sort of alternate universe to the regular Kingfisher events. This raises all sorts of potential discussion: First off, who would be into this? Second, would you like it to be KF-style vampires but not use the original KF characters as NPCs, or would you like to play in an alt version of the events of the comic? We lean toward this way of doing it: Everyone develops their characters as humans. We'd work with you during creation to try to make sure the characters would work well in the campaign. Then, after the initial KF events, the alternate universe thing kicks in. Dragomir wants even more young vampires, and all the PCs are turned by The Circle at that point. Players would have no control over which lineage they ended up with or how it happened. Hm..... HMMMM I say!!!!

@chris= The first sounds like a good idea today, I'm willing to give it a try. . I'm not sure if I want to commit to a new rp, I'll think about it!

Yeah, that sounds fantastic. I think that's the go for sure. Regarding the Kingfisherverse idea... I'd be there with bells on and then more bells because the first lot wasn't quite enough and then some streamers for heck of it. ... So that's resounding yes to that. I would lean towards our own characters too.

I like the paradigm format as well! It sounds like a fine idea. As for the new game, how exciting!!! If you're up for it, I'd be interested, depending on who else joins and whatnot.
@ Jara - After some thought, I'll opt out of your current sidequest in Madrona and jump back in later. Otherwise, my pace will slow down the action. Just pretend Molly and Emily are somehow not helpful during the battle, which should not be surprising, honestly.

Oh Indea, we thought about it and we hoped you'd play an Antearctan... Any personality is possible, but try to use Australian slang mixed with perversions of any "southern" American talk you can think of.
In typical overly ambitious fashion, Kelly was hoping to start before xmas. I'll try to do the next special SUBPAR event before that. It will feature a very special monster.
We want to have a limited number of player openings, which we may advertise in the comments section on The Kingfisher. Of course, you cats have the early open shot. In trying to work with you guys a bit closer on the characters before the campaign begins, we wanna encourage PCs to have connections to each other and more regular people concepts - less the rough action hero types - but we're open minded and will see what peeps come up with.

I think that I shall decline the Kingfisherverse game for now, as I still haven't read past the first two chapters (and that was a long time ago). I'll get back to it eventually, but I think I need to be in a different headspace for that. I just think I'd be always behind on everything, with everyone else being familiar with the setting and stuff, I'd just be out of the loop until I found the time to catch up. That said...
I am almost certainly going to be running a long-term Call of Cthulhu campaign while I am in India. I will probably resurrect the forum that I have on Hellavision.tv and figure out how to configure it in a way that will make it optimal for forum based RPing. I may turn out to be terrible at online GMing, but I'm hoping the variety of tactics we've used here will give me some insight into what I like and don't like and what I think would be an ideal way to go about things.
This CoC game wouldn't start until I was settled into Hyderabad, probably June or July of 2014.

Kelly sounds interested in the CoC game but obvy that's a way's off to say absulymon. I feel that I must do that, yea verily, as thine brother. Because how else will I remember to stay in touch like I should?
As for joining the KF game late, we may provide an in for late arrivals or may not - as yet undecided - and limit initial number of players to ... 6 or 7, as yet undecided.
